Event-Driven Mobile Financial Information Services : Design of an Intraday Decision Support System
In recent years, mobile applications and technologies have become valuable for many companies and their customers. This ongoing trend has affected both businesses and everyday life.Jan Muntermann presents an intraday event study that is conducted within the German capital market, and provides evidence that investors could exploit intraday stock price effects following critical market events. He then develops the concept for a corresponding mobile decision support system that assists investors in identifying those events. Based on the design science research paradigm, he uses this concept in the design of a novel mobile decision support system, which can provide ubiquitous information access to private investors.
European Somalis' Post-Migration Movements : Mobility Capital and the Transnationalisation of Resources
Based on a qualitative study on migrants of Somali origin who have settled in Europe for at least a decade, this open access book offers a ground-breaking exploration of the idea of mobility, both empirically and theoretically. It draws a comprehensive typology of the varied “post-migration mobility practices” developed by these migrants from their country of residence after having settled there. It argues that cross-border mobility may, under certain conditions, become a form of capital that can be employed to pursue advantages in transnational social fields. The study sheds a different light on migrants who are often considered passive or problematic migrants/refugees in Europe, and demonstrates that mobility capital is not the prerogative of highly qualified elites: less privileged migrants also circulate in a globalised world, benefiting from being embedded in transnational social fields and from mobility practices over which they have gained some control.

Part I provides normative reflections on the economy: Section I reflects on the interconnections between the multiple discourses on the economy, section II presents Hegel's claim that the economic order is an ethical institution and defends his ontological view of the economy against the one of Adam Smith. Section III dialogues with economists about their concepts of public and merit goods. This section defends a Hegelian ontology of the economy through an analysis of technical concepts used by economists. Part II provides applications derived from the normative analysis: Section I presents the views of authors in different academic disciplines pointing to failures in late capitalism, in particular failures of American capitalism and section II asks the question: " What must one pay attention to in a transition from a command economy to a free market?" Ergodic Dynamics : From Basic Theory to Applications
This textbook provides a broad introduction to the fields of dynamical systems and ergodic theory. Motivated by examples throughout, the author offers readers an approachable entry-point to the dynamics of ergodic systems. Modern and classical applications complement the theory on topics ranging from financial fraud to virus dynamics, offering numerous avenues for further inquiry. Starting with several simple examples of dynamical systems, the book begins by establishing the basics of measurable dynamical systems, attractors, and the ergodic theorems. From here, chapters are modular and can be selected according to interest. La presente raccolta di problemi ed esercizi nasce dall'esperienza maturata durante il corso di Equazioni a Derivate Parziali (EDP), tenuto nell'ambito delle lauree di primo e secondo livello presso il Politecnico di Milano. Il volume è diviso in due parti; nei primi quattro capitoli l'obiettivo è l'uso di tecniche classiche, come la separazione delle variabili, il principio di massimo o le trasformate di Laplace e Fourier, per risolvere problemi di diffusione, trasporto e vibrazione. Il quinto capitolo invita a familiarizzare con i risultati di base negli spazi di Hilbert, nella teoria delle distribuzioni (o funzioni generalizzate) di Schwartz e in quella degli spazi di Sobolev più comuni. Il sesto ed ultimo capitolo riguarda la formulazione variazionale o debole dei più importanti problemi iniziali e/o al bordo per equazioni ellittiche e di evoluzione. L'introduzione ad ogni capitolo contiene una sintesi degli strumenti teorici più utilizzati.
