The Directorate of International Relations at the Arab International University (AIU) aspires to become a leading model in building and developing academic and research partnerships at both regional and international levels. This vision contributes to enhancing the quality of higher education, scientific research, and cultural exchange, while strengthening the university’s presence within the global academic arena.

Mission

The Directorate of International Relations works to develop a strategic network of partnerships with universities and academic and research institutions worldwide. Its mission is to support academic, cultural, and research exchange, establish an international learning environment aligned with global quality standards, and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Objectives

The Directorate seeks to achieve a set of strategic objectives, including:

 

  • Developing international academic cooperation through the signing of student, academic, and research exchange agreements.
  • Enhancing the international reputation of the Arab International University through participation in global academic events and partnerships with reputable universities.
  • Activating cultural exchange programs and organizing international conferences and workshops.
  • Attracting international students and facilitating their admission and academic residency procedures.
  • Encouraging joint scientific research and supporting the funding of international research projects.
  • Developing the capacities of academic and administrative staff through international training programs.
  • Applying academic diplomacy to promote cultural dialogue and openness among nations.

 

Overview of the Directorate’s Activities

The Directorate of International Relations serves as the primary link between the Arab International University and international academic and research institutions. Its main responsibilities include:

 

  • Preparing and signing memoranda of understanding and international cooperation agreements.
  • Organizing visits of academic and diplomatic delegations to the university.
  • Supervising student and academic exchange programs.
  • Coordinating the university’s participation in international conferences and exhibition
  • Following up on scholarships and joint programs with international organizations.
  • Managing communication with embassies and cultural attachés.
  • Preparing periodic reports related to the university’s international performance.

 

The Directorate seeks to establish a comprehensive internationalization strategy that aligns with the identity of the Arab International University as an open and globally connected institution, based on the belief that expanding international presence accelerates academic development and enhances national and international rankings.

Internationalization and Global Partnerships

The Arab International University is committed to building a strong international reputation through the establishment of cooperation agreements with high-quality universities and academic institutions worldwide. These partnerships represent a core pillar of the university’s internationalization strategy and strengthen its position as a globally connected university.

This strategy aims to:

 

  • Enhance the mobility of students, academics, and staff.
  • Support knowledge production and innovative research.
  • Provide opportunities for interaction with diverse educational and cultural environments.

 

The university also welcomes students from different countries and offers a multicultural learning environment that supports academic excellence and cultural diversity.


International Agreements

The Arab International University has signed several bilateral agreements with distinguished Arab and international universities, including:

 

  • Princess Sumaya University for Technology
  • Petra University
  • Yarmouk University
  • Lebanese University

 

The university has also signed three cooperation agreements with German universities:

 

  • Heilbronn University
  • Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg
  • Leipzig University of Applied Sciences

 

In addition, the university maintains agreements with local and Arab universities and holds active membership in Arab and Mediterranean university associations.

International Programs and Projects

International Programs

 

  • DAAD Program (Funded by the German Government): Student and academic exchange and funding of Arabic language lectures at Martin Luther University.
  • DAAD Joint Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Administration: In cooperation with Martin Luther University.
  • Erasmus Mundus Program: Four projects funded by the European Union supporting student, academic, and administrative mobility, as well as master’s and doctoral programs.

 

  • Tempus Program:

    • Accreditation as a pathway to quality assurance.

    • Skills development as a pathway to the labor market.

  • Erasmus+ Program.

Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Projects:

 

  • FREE Project: Center for Equality and Sustainabilit
  • DIGIHEALTH Project: Interactive digital education.
  • MORALE Project: Sustainable management of non-governmental organizations.

 

International Credit Mobility (ICM) Projects:

In cooperation with universities in:

  • Spain, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and Italy.
