The explosive growth of the Internet and the Web have created a never-growing demand for information systems, and ever-growing challenges for Information Systems Engineering. The series of Conferences on Advanced Information S- tems Engineering (CAiSE) was launched in Scandinavia by Janis Bubenko and Arne Solvberg in 1989, became an important European conference, and was held annually in major European sites throughout the 1990s. Now, in its 14th year, CAiSE was held for the first time outside Europe, showcasing international research on information systems and their engineering. Not surprisingly, this year the conference enjoyed unprecedented attention.
Advanced groundwater remediation : Active and passive technologies
Increasing efforts were made towards containing and cleaning contaminated groundwater. A number of techniques can be used to achieve such goals, traditionally either by treating or isolating the soil in situ, or by removing it for washing or disposal. However, such technologies tend to be accompanied by high energy consumption, and can lead to new environmental problems. Therefore, more efficient and economical techniques are needed to remediate contaminated soil and groundwater.

Advanced Fuzzy Logic Technologies in Industrial Applications
Addresses the problem by introducing a dynamic, on-line fuzzy inference system. In this system membership functions and control rules are not determined until the system is applied and each output of its lookup table is calculated based on current inputs. The tuning process is a major focus in this volume because it is the most difficult stage in fuzzy control application. Using new methods such as µ-law technique, histogram equalization and the Bezier-based method, all detailed here, the tuning process can be significantly simplified and control performance improved. Started by small group of well known scientists with the aim of sharing knowledge, experiences, and results on all aspects of cluster computing, the initiative of a workshop on cluster computing received more attention after IFIP WG 10.3 and IEEE Romania Section accepted our request for sponsorship. Moreover, the application for a NATO ARW grant was successful, leading to a greater interest in the workshop. In this respect, we have to say that we chose Romania in order to attract scientists from Central and Eastern European countries and improve the cooperation in the region, in the field of cluster computing. We had an extremely short time to organize the event, but many people joined us and enthusiastically contributed to the process. The success of the workshop is wholly due to the hard work of the organizing committee, members of the program committee, key speakers, speakers from industry, and authors of accepted papers.

The images are processed and segmented to find different features in the image. Segmented images are used for identification and classification based on various machine learning algorithms and neural networks. Advanced Design Techniques for RF Power Amplifiers
Main aim is to provide the reader with a deep analysis of theoretical aspects, modelling, and design strategies of RF high-efficiency power amplifiers. Advanced Design Techniques for RF Power Amplifiers begins with an analytical review of current state of the problem. Then it moves to the theoretical analysis of BJT class-F power amplifier near transition frequency and presents the necessary realization conditions.
