Eliminating Healthcare Disparities in America : Beyond the IOM Report
This book assembles the very best scholars on healthcare disparities to raise the public consciousness of this issue. These experts provide the benefits of their experience and expertise as a resource for helping others to make judicious determinations about how to proceed in efforts to improve the disparities in American healthcare. Arranged into discrete categories, this volume contains comprehensive coverage, both historical and current, of the healthcare disparity crisis currently plaguing our country in hopes of leading us all to a brighter future. The volume includes chapters of examples that are currently working and concludes with recommendations on how to move forward. The text is not intended to be one in which all of the answers are given to the multitude of problems.

Development of breast cancer therapy and gender
Breast cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in the breast tissues multiply and form an invasive (or malignant) tumor. Such tumors can invade and damage the tissue around them and spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic or vascular systems. We will describe in our study several types of breast cancer, since they are classified into two main categories: “invasive” and “non-invasive,” or in situ. While invasive cancer has spread from the breast ducts or glands to other parts of the breast, non-invasive cancer has not spread from the original tissue. Our study will focus on the best tests that examine the breasts which are used to detect and diagnose breast cancer: Physical exam and health history, Clinical breast exam (CBE), Mammogram, Ultrasound exam, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), Blood chemistry studies and Biopsy. We will include the value of such tests after breast cancer has been diagnosed, to find out if cancer cells have spread within the breast or to other parts of the body.

Copular Sentences In Russian : A Theory of Intra-Clausal Relations
This book provides a detailed study and a novel Minimalist account of copular sentences in Russian, focusing on case marking alternations (nominative vs. instrumental) and drawing a distinction between two types of copular sentences. On the assumption that Merge is defined in the simplest way possible, it is argued that not all syntactic structures are a(nti)symmetrical. One of the copular sentence types is analyzed as a poster child for symmetrical structures, while the other type is treated as asymmetrical. The originality of this study lies in treating the copula in the two types of copular sentences neither as completely identical nor as two distinct lexical items; instead, the two types of copula are derived through the process of semantic bleaching. Furthermore, it is argued that the two types of the copula need to combine with post-copular phrases of different categories. It is concluded that Russian draws a distinction between saturated DPs and unsaturated NPs, in spite of its renowned lack of overt articles.

Cohesion, coherence and temporal reference from an experimental corpus pragmatics perspective
Provides new methodological and theoretical insights into temporal reference and its linguistic expression, from a cross-linguistic experimental corpus pragmatics approach. Verbal tenses, in general, and more specifically the categories of tense, grammatical and lexical aspect are treated as cohesion ties contributing to the temporal coherence of a discourse, as well as to the cognitive temporal coherence of the mental representations built in the language comprehension process. As such, it investigates the phenomenon of temporal reference at the interface between corpus linguistics, theoretical linguistics and pragmatics, experimental pragmatics, psycholinguistics, natural language processing and machine translation.
