Regulatory Pathways For Smart Grid Development in China
A series of reforms have greatly improved the efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance of the Chinese power sector. However, significant challenges remain: rapidly rising electricity demand, concerns about power system reliability and energy security, environmental degradation and climate change. China’s government explicitly set up the goal of accelerating the development of so-called smart grids which might help to overcome the challenges mentioned above. Yet, considerable difficulties exist in adjusting the regulatory environment of China’s electric power system to enable an effective and efficient development of smart grids in China.

Rapid ECG Interpretation
The ECG is the oldest cardiologic test, but even 100 years after its inception, it continues as the most commonly used cardiologic test. Despite the advent of expensive and sophisticated alternatives, the ECG remains the most reliable tool for the conÞrmation of acute myocardial infarction (MI). The ECG -- not the CK-MB, troponins, echocardiogram, or SPECT or PET scan -- dictates the timely administration of lifesaving PCI or thrombolytic therapy. There is no test to rival the ECG in the diagnosis of arrhythmias, which is a common and bothersome clinical cardiologic problem. In this new third edition, Rapid ECG Interpretation presents a systematic step-by-step approach that provides protocols consistent with changes in cardiology practice over the past decade.
Radiation effects of advanced electronic devices and circuits
Aims to disclose the basic mechanisms of radiation effects for advanced devices and the breakthrough of new solutions to assess and mitigate radiation sensitivity in advanced devices and integrated circuits. This reprint presents new modeling approaches that predict how radiation impacts electronic devices and circuits. Accurate models are essential for designing devices that can tolerate radiation without significant performance degradation. We also focus on the innovative design and fabrication techniques that enhance the radiation tolerance of integrated circuits. Moreover, some discussions highlight new testing protocols and methodologies that provide more accurate and comprehensive evaluations of radiation hardness, as well as the latest advancements and trends that are of particular interest to researchers and professionals in the radiation effects community.
Quantum-Statistical Models of Hot Dense Matter : Methods for Computation Opacity and Equation of State
Studies the widely used theoretical models for calculating properties of hot dense matter. In the processes studied in contemporary physics one encounters the most diverse conditions: temperatures ranging from absolute zero to those found in the cores of stars, and densities ranging from those of gases to densities tens of times larger than those of a solid body. Accordingly, the solution of many problems of modern physics requires an increasingly large volume of information about the properties of matter under various conditions, including extreme ones. Atthesame time, there is a demand for an increasing accuracy of these data, due to the fact that the reliability and computational substantiation of many unique technological devices and physical installations depends on them. The relatively simple models ordinarily described in courses on theoretical physics are not applicable when we wish to describe the properties of matter in a su?ciently wide range of temperatures and densities. ...
Quantum Information Theory and Quantum Statistics
Based on lectures given by the author, this book focuses on providing reliable introductory explanations of key concepts of quantum information theory and quantum statistics - rather than on results. The mathematically rigorous presentation is supported by numerous examples and exercises and by an appendix summarizing the relevant aspects of linear analysis. Assuming that the reader is familiar with the content of standard undergraduate courses in quantum mechanics, probability theory, linear algebra and functional analysis, the book addresses graduate students of mathematics and physics as well as theoretical and mathematical physicists.
Quality of Software Architectures and Software Quality ; 1st International Conference on the Quality of Software Architectures, QoSA 2005 and Second International Workshop on Software Quality, SOQUA 2005, Erfurt, Germany, September, 20-22, 2005, Proceedings
This book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of two colocated events: the First International Conference on the Quality of Software Architectures (QoSA 2005) and the Second International Workshop on Software Quality (SOQUA 2005) held in Erfurt, Germany, in September 2005. The 18 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 48 submissions. For QoSA 2005 only 12 papers - of the 31 submitted - were accepted for presentation; they are concerned with research and experiences that investigate the influence a specific software architecture has on software quality aspects. The papers are organized in topical sections on software architecture evaluation, formal approaches to model-driven QoS-handling, modelling QoS in software architectures, software architectures applied, architectural design for QoS, and model-driven software reliability estimation. The 6 papers accepted for SOQUA 2005 - from 17 submissions - mainly focus on quality assurance and on software testing. They are organized in topical sections on test case selection, model-based testing, unit testing, and performance testing.
Quality and Reliability of Large-Eddy Simulations
Computational resources have developed to the level that, for the first time, it is becoming possible to apply large-eddy simulation (LES) to turbulent flow problems of realistic complexity. Many examples can be found in technology and in a variety of natural flows. This puts issues related to assessing, assuring, and predicting the quality of LES into the spotlight. Several LES studies have been published in the past, demonstrating a high level of accuracy with which turbulent flow predictions can be attained, without having to resort to the excessive requirements on computational resources imposed by direct numerical simulations. However, the setup and use of turbulent flow simulations requires a profound knowledge of fluid mechanics, numerical techniques, and the application under consideration.
