Insights into Receptor Function and New Drug Development Targets
G-Protein Coupled receptors (GPCRs) and other receptors are significant targets for drug discovery, due to their roles in fundamental physiological processes. Among these roles are: regulation of growth, food intake, reproduction, water balance, sensory perception, blood pressure and heart rate. GPCR-directed drugs account for approximately $40 billion in sales and, of drugs at market, approximately 70% target GPCR function. The availability of combinatorial chemistry coupled with high throughput screening techniques have facilitated discovery of peptidic and non-peptidic ligands of membrane receptors. Mutant receptor models have revealed their role in health and disease and provided insight to new therapeutic approaches, based on control of protein trafficking. Understanding receptor-receptor interactions has provided one mechanism for receptor cross-talk and revealed unexpected interactions.

Innovations in Macroeconomics ; 2nd ed.
Modern macroeconomics suffers from an unclear link between short-term Keynesian analysis and long-term growth modelling. Moreover, product and process innovations have been only partially integrated. Innovation, Networks, and Knowledge Spillovers : Selected Essays
The volume is in three parts. The first part demonstrates that the processes of innovation and technological change are spatially differentiated, both regionally within countries and internationally between countries. The second part broadens, both conceptually and empirically, our understanding of the innovation process and the process of network formation, by examining the increasing importance of knowledge creation and diffusion in the new economy and how this is changing the nature of firms in crucial ways. Particular focus is laid on identifying the growing pressures for firms to develop more inter- and intrafirm networks and on providing lucid illustrations of these different kinds of networks. Welcome to ICOIN 2005,the International Conference on Information Netwo- ing, held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, Jeju Island, Korea during January 31– February2,2005.ICOIN2005followedthesuccessofpreviousconferences.Since 1986, the conference has provided a technical forum for various issues in inf- mation networking. The theme of each conference re?ects the historic events in the computer communication industry. (Please refer to www.icoin2005.or.kr for details.) The theme of ICOIN 2004, “Convergence in Broadband and Mobile Networking,” was used again for ICOIN 2005 since we believed it was ongoing. This year we received 427 submissions in total, which came from 22 co- tries. Upon submission, authors were asked to select one of the categories listed in the Call for Papers. The most popular category chosen was network se- rity, followed by mobile networks and wireless LANs. Other areas with strong showings included QoS and resource management, ad hoc and sensor networks, and wireless multimedia systems. From the outset, we could see where recent research interest lay and could make sure that the theme was still going in the right direction.

Implementing Strategic Environmental Assessment
More countries are now using Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) than ever before. This timely and comprehensive Handbook describes the implementation of SEA in 18 countries around the world, as well as a critical analysis of different SEA methodologies. The Handbook starts by introducing key SEA principles and the legal requirements of the new European SEA Directive (which became law in 2004). It then describes the implementation of SEA in 11 European Union countries, as well as the USA, Canada and New Zealand. This is contrasted with SEA requirements of four developing countries.
