The contributions range from computer science, mathematics and high performance computing to applications in computational fluid dynamics, combustion and industrial problems. Advanced Wired and Wireless Networks
ADVANCED WIRED AND WIRELESS NETWORKS brings the reader a sample of recent research efforts representative of advances in the areas of recognized importance for the future Internet, In Part I, we bring ad-hoc networking closer to the reality of practical use. The focus is on more advanced scalable routing suitable for large networks, directed flooding useful in information dissemination networks, as well as self-configuration and security issues important in practical deployments. Part II illustrates the efforts towards development of advanced mobility support techniques (beyond traditional "mobile phone net") and Mobile IP technologies. The issues range from prediction based mobility support, through context transfer during Mobile IP handoff, to service provisioning platforms for heterogeneous networks. The focus of the final section concerns the performance of networks and protocols. Advanced methods for knowledge discovery from complex data
An overview of the field, looking at the issues and challenges involved is followed by coverage of recent trends in data mining, including descriptions of some currently popular tools like genetic algorithms, neural networks and case-based reasoning. This provides the context for the subsequent chapters on methods and applications. Abstraction, refinement and proof for probabilistic systems
Probabilistic techniques are increasingly being employed in computer programs and systems because they can increase efficiency in sequential algorithms, enable otherwise nonfunctional distribution applications, and allow quantification of risk and safety in general. This makes operational models of how they work, and logics for reasoning about them, extremely important. Abstraction, Refinement and Proof for Probabilistic Systems presents a rigorous approach to modeling and reasoning about computer systems that incorporate probability. Its foundations lie in traditional Boolean sequential-program logic—but its extension to numeric rather than merely true-or-false judgments takes it much further, into areas such as randomized algorithms, fault tolerance, and, in distributed systems, almost-certain symmetry breaking. The presentation begins with the familiar "assertional" style of program development and continues with increasing specialization: Part I treats probabilistic program logic, including many examples and case studies; Part II sets out the detailed semantics; and Part III applies the approach to advanced material on temporal calculi and two-player games.
A Computational Model of Natural Language Communication : Interpretation, Inference, and Production in Database Semantics
Presents a high-level description of an artificial agent which humans can freely communicate with in their accustomed language. Part II analyzes the major constructions of natural language, i.e., intra- and extrapropositional functor - argument structure, coordination, and coreference, in the speaker and the hearer mode. These proceedings continue the series edited in the framework of the traditional triennial International Conference on Electrical Bio-Impedance (ICEBI), the most important platform for presenting recent scientific achievements in the area of electrical bio-impedance. The XIII ICEBI was held from Aug. 29th – Sept. 02nd 2007 at the Graz University of Technology in Graz, Austria. As already in previous years the 13th ICEBI was held together with the 8th Conference on Electrical Impedance Tomography, the annual meeting for biomedical impedance imaging. Consequently, the proceedings also contain many contributions from this very important and challenging branch of bioimpedance research.
