Digital Towns : Accelerating and Measuring the Digital Transformation of Rural Societies and Economies
This book explores the digital transformation of small and rural towns, in particular, how to measure the evolution and development of digital towns. In addition to access to resources, competition from urban and global markets, and population trends, rural communities present lesser access and use of digital technologies and have lower digital competencies and skills than their urban counterparts. Consequently, they experience less beneficial outcomes from increased digitalisation than urban areas. This book defines what a digital town is and explores digitalisation from the perspective of the four basic economic sectors in towns - individuals and households, businesses, the public sector, and civil society - and three types of enabling infrastructure - digital connectivity, education, and governance.

Differential Undercounts in the U.S. Census : Who is Missed?
This book describes the differences in US census coverage, also referred to as “differential undercount”, by showing which groups have the highest net undercounts and which groups have the greatest undercount differentials, and discusses why such undercounts occur. In addition to focusing on measuring census coverage for several demographic characteristics, including age, gender, race, Hispanic origin status, and tenure, it also considers several of the main hard-to-count populations, such as immigrants, the homeless, the LBGT community, children in foster care, and the disabled. Diabetes mellitus and bacterial and fungal urinary tract infection
Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by variable degrees of insulin resistance, impaired insulin secretion, and increased glucose production. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of infections, with the urinary tract being the most frequent infection site. Various impairments in the immune system, in addition to poor metabolic control of diabetes, and incomplete bladder emptying due to autonomic neuropathy, may all contribute in the pathogenesis of urinary tract infections (UTI) in diabetic patients. Factors that were found to enhance the risk for UTI in diabetics include age, metabolic control, and long-term complications, primarily diabetic nephropathy and cystopathy. The spectrum of UTI in these patients ranges from asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) to lower UTI (cystitis), pyelonephritis, and severe urosepsis.

The main objective of this book is to give a collection of criteria available in the spectral theory of selfadjoint operators, and to identify the spectrum and its components in the Lebesgue decomposition. at the total spectral measure associated with it;often studying such ameasure meant looking at some transform of the measure. These functions are “usable” in the sense that they can be manipulated with respect to addition of operators, which is what one considers most often in the spectral theory of Schrodinger type operators. Starting with this basic structure we look at the transforms of measures from which we can recover the measures and their components in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2 we repeat the standard spectral theory of selfadjoint op- ators. The spectral theorem is given also in the Hahn–Hellinger form. Both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 also serve to introduce a series of definitions and notations, as they prepare the background which is necessary for the criteria in Chapter 3.
