ADHD is a popular disorder, often diagnosed in children in young ages. we aimed our study to focus on this disorder since it has a great impact on education and academic achievement. Although its widespread recently more than last twenty years, but in our survey we noticed that the reported cases in Syrian ministry of education is much lower than we observed in our practical clinical study. We will present the history, symptoms, risk factor, prognosis and therapy of this disorder with comparative study between two forms of treatment. According to this research and our practical work, we will find the best choice in treatment after diagnosed with ADHD

Auriculothérapie : Acupuncture auriculaire = Auriculotherapy : Auricular acupuncture

The auricle is a privileged place to observe and treat patients reflexively. It is endowed with both a particularly rich innervation, and brief connections with the higher nervous centers. It constitutes both a reading pavilion, to observe information coming from the organs and nerve endings of the skin, and a control pavilion to help correct abnormal information. It is a lookout post, placed bypassing the brainstem, on the path connecting the organs and the brain. It thus allows a fair control and an effective intervention. In this medical treatise on Auriculotherapy, historical and scientific data, medical explanations and bibliographical references are presented.

Auditory Trauma, Protection, and Repair

Protection and Repair presents recent developments in auditory research and their potential translation to the clinical setting. In particular the authors address the major entities of peripheral auditory trauma, discuss the underlying mechanisms, the central nervous system consequences, protective interventions and finally explore the possibilities to restore cochlear morphology and function. Two themes run through the chapters in this book: cellular homeostasis and cell death. In the broadest sense, all auditory pathologies are disorders of cellular homeostasis.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

ADHD, called attention-deficit disorder, is a behavior disorder, usually first diagnosed in childhood, that is characterized by inattention, impulsivity, and, in some cases, hyperactivity. These symptoms usually occur together; however, one may occur without the other(s). The symptoms of hyperactivity, when present, are almost always apparent by the age of 7 and may be present in very young preschoolers. Inattention or attention-deficit may not be evident until a child faces the expectations of elementary school ADHD IN CHILDREN is a chronic condition that affects millions of children and often continues into adulthood.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) : Awareness in Syrian communities

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder affecting both children and adults, characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. This research explores ADHD awareness, prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment preferences within Syrian communities. A survey was conducted to collect data from individuals regarding their awareness of ADHD, its diagnosis, and treatment preferences. Additionally, interviews with specialists provided insights from medical professionals on the diagnosis and management of ADHD.

Atlas of Neuromuscular Diseases : A Practical Guideline

A comprehensive outline of neuromuscular diseases, written by experienced American and European authors. It discusses all aspects of neuromuscular disorders including the cranial nerves, spinal nerves, motor neurone disease, the nerve plexus, peripheral nerves, mononeuropathies, entrapment syndromes, polyneuropathies, the neuromuscular junction, and muscle disease. Each chapter is uniformly structured into anatomy, symptoms, signs, pathogentic possibilities, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. Additionally the diagnostic tools and investigations used in neuromuscular disease are explained and a practical guide is given how to advance from symptoms to syndromes. For each disease the therapeutic options are described. It contains large number of clinical and histologic pictures from the practical experience of the authors and also a number of artists drawings to facilitate the understanding of anatomic structures.

Atlas of genetic diagnosis and counseling

Many birth defects, although rare individually, are encountered in clinical practice and have now become treatable if properly diagnosed. In the Atlas of Genetic Diagnosis and Counseling, Harold Chen, MD, shares his almost 40 years of clinical genetics practice in a comprehensive pictorial atlas of 203 genetic disorders, malformations, and malformation syndromes. The author provides a detailed outline for each disorder, describing its genetics, basic defects, clinical features, diagnostic tests, and counseling issues, including recurrence risk, prenatal diagnosis, and management. Numerous color photographs of prenatal ultrasounds, imagings, cytogenetics, and postmortem findings illustrate the clinical features of patients at different ages, patients with varying degrees of severity, and the optimal diagnostic strategies. The disorders cited are supplemented by case histories and diagnostic confirmation by cytogenetics, biochemical, and molecular techniques, when available.

Applications of random matrices in physics

Random matrices are widely and successfully used in physics for almost 60-70 years, beginning with the works of Dyson and Wigner. Although it is an old subject, it is constantly developing into new areas of physics and mathematics. It constitutes now a part of the general culture of a theoretical physicist. Mathematical methods inspired by random matrix theory become more powerful, sophisticated and enjoy rapidly growing applications in physics. Recent examples include the calculation of universal correlations in the mesoscopic system, new applications in disordered and quantum chaotic systems, in combinatorial and growth models, as well as the recent breakthrough, due to the matrix models, in two dimensional gravity and string theory and the non-abelian gauge theories. The book consists of the lectures of the leading specialists and covers rather systematically many of these topics.

Aortic valve disease

Your heart has four valves to keep blood flowing in the direction. These valves include the mitral valve, tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve and aortic valve. Each valve has flaps (epiphysis or leaflets) that opens and close once during each heartbeat sometimes the valve do not open or close completely; this interferes with the flow of blood inside the heart, and may lead to impaired ability to pump blood to your body. In aortic valve disease, the aortic valve between the lower left chamber (left ventricle) and the primary artery that delivers blood from the heart to the body (the aorta) does not work completely. It may not close completely; This causes blood to leak back into the left ventricle (regurgitation), or possibly narrowing of the valve (stenosis).

Anxiety in health behaviors and physical illness

While the links between physical illness and depression have been well-documented and analyzed, little has been made of the data relating physical illness to anxiety—until now. Anxiety in Health Behavior and Physical Illness explores complex relationships between medical and anxiety pathology on the theoretical, research, and practical fronts. Over forty experts examine reciprocal roles of anxiety and medical illness as causal or exacerbating factors in each other’s onset and development, describe forms of anxiety typical to major disease entities, discuss common health behaviors as they impact anxiety, recast anxiety disorders as chronic illness, and identify patients for whom new forms of treatment may be warranted.
