The Hidden Power of Emotions : How Psychological Factors Influence Investment Decisions at DSE
Examines whether psychological biases exist at Damascus Securities Exchange. It also tests whether they affect investors decisions and performance at Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE). Investors psychological biases were measured through a questionnaire, containing which intermediary company they work in, including indicators of speculators, investment decision making, and investment performance variables. We use correlation and regression analysis to examine our hypothesis and find that Syrian investors at DSE are affected by both fundamental factors and psychological biases. Surprisingly, fundamental factors have more impact on investors decisions than psychological biases, which is uncommon in emerging stock markets.
The Hidden Messages in Drinking Water and Hydrotherapy
Water is essential for life and maintaining optimal levels of hydration is important for humans to function well. Water makes up a large proportion of our body weight (60% on average), distributed between the intracellular (inside cells) and extracellular (water in the blood and in between cells) compartments. Water is the major component of body fluids, such as blood, synovial fluid (fluid in the joints), saliva and urine, which perform vital functions in the body. The concentration of solutes (osmolality) in body fluids is closely controlled, and even very small changes in osmolality trigger a physiological response; either to increase body water by reducing urinary output and stimulating thirst; or to excrete excess water as urine. Generally, body water is maintained within narrow limits. However, if water losses are not sufficiently replaced, dehydration occurs. Extreme dehydration is very serious and can be fatal. More mild dehydration (about 2% loss of body weight) can result in headaches, fatigue and reduced physical and mental performance. It is also possible to consume too much water and in rare cases this can result in hyponatraemia (low levels of sodium in the blood).

The Heliosphere through the Solar Activity Cycle

The Heat Kernel and Theta Inversion on SL2(C)
The present monograph develops the fundamental ideas and results surrounding heat kernels, spectral theory, and regularized traces associated to the full modular group acting on SL2(C). The authors begin with the realization of the heat kernel on SL2(C) through spherical transform, from which one manifestation of the heat kernel on quotient spaces is obtained through group periodization. From a different point of view, one constructs the heat kernel on the group space using an eigenfunction, or spectral, expansion, which then leads to a theta function and a theta inversion formula by equating the two realizations of the heat kernel on the quotient space. The trace of the heat kernel diverges, which naturally leads to a regularization of the trace by studying Eisenstein series on the eigenfunction side and the cuspidal elements on the group periodization side.
