Leadership and Performance in Public Sector Networks
Analyses two key aspects of network management in the public sector: leadership and performance. It investigates what integrative leadership is, and how it differentiates from leadership in single-agency structures. It also examines the performance of public interest networks by proposing an analytical framework that highlights which factors lead to high performance networks.
Lattice Hadron Physics
This series of lectures draws upon the developments made in recent years in implementing chirality on the lattice via the overlap formalism. These developments exploit chiral effective field theory in order to extrapolate lattice results to physical quark masses, new forms of improving operators to remove lattice artefacts, analytical studies of finite volume effects in hadronic observables, and state-of-the-art lattice calculations of excited resonances. This volume is designed to assist those outside the field who want quickly to becoming literate in these topics. So it is intended for graduate students and experienced researchers in other areas of hadronic physics to provide the background through which they can appreciate, if not become active in, contemporary lattice gauge theory and its applications to hadronic phenomena.
Language, Meaning, Interpretation
Philosophy of logic and language, and of meaning and communication are central to this volume. The discussion of these issues involves analytical approaches, including semantics and semiotics, philosophy of science, mathematical logic, phenomenology, hermeneutics and some aspects of philosophical anthropology and aesthetics. Philosophy of the Absolute also belongs to this broad repertoire of philosophical problems and disciplines. A number of problems and viewpoints derive from the metaphysical system; any relativistic view on ethical values, for instance, makes sense in relation to some absolute. Metaphysical system building may have come to an end, but after all it belongs to philosophy to remind us of our past.

Laboratory control system operations in a GMP environment
In Laboratory Control System Operations in a GMP Environment, readers are given the guidance they need to implement a CGMP compliant Laboratory Control System (LCS) that fits within Global Regulatory guidelines. Using the Quality Systems Approach, regulatory agencies like the FDA and the European Medicine Agency have developed a scheme of systems for auditing pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities which includes evaluating the LCS.
L’isomorphisme entre les tours de Lubin-Tate et de Drinfeld = The isomorphism between the Lubin-Tate and Drinfeld towers
This book contains a detailed and complete demonstration of the existence of an equivariate isomorphism between the Lubin-Tate and Drinfeld p-adic turns. The result is established in equal and unequal characteristics. There is also given as an application a proof that the equivariant cohomologies of these two turns are isomorphic, a result which has applications to the study of the local Langlands correspondence. During the proof, reminders and complements are given on the structure of the two preceding moduli spaces, the p-divisible formal groups and the p-adic rigid analytical geometry.
Kanban-Controlled Manufacturing Systems
Kanban control systems bear a great potential to significantly improve operations. A company may reap the full benefits of kanban control only after determining an optimal or near-optimal system configuration. To do that, methods are needed to evaluate the performance and operating costs of individual system configurations. We propose an innovative construction-kit approach that enables us to build stochastic analytical models of a large class of single- and multi-product kanban systems. The presented construction-kit approach may be extended and augmented in various directions
Composites for building assembly : connections, members and structures
Pesents buildings developed using modular assembly approaches based on lightweight and corrosion-resistant fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. Construction methods and the choice of building materials offer great opportunities for more productive and environmentally friendly solutions. This book includes valuable experimental data on large-scale structural components (beams, slabs, amd columns), connections (shear connections, wall stud connections, beam-column connections, column-column connections) and structures (composite floor system, structural sandwich assemblies, and full-scale structural demonstrations), supported with detailed numerical modelling and analytical methods.
Comparative Education Research : Approaches and Methods
Approaches and methods in comparative education research are of obvious importance, but do not always receive adequate attention. This book contributes new insights within the longstanding traditions of the field. A particular feature is the focus on different units of analysis. Individual chapters compare places, systems, times, cultures, values, policies, curricula and other units. These chapters are contextualised within broader analytical frameworks which identify the purposes and strengths of the field. The book includes a focus on intra-national as well as cross-national comparisons, and highlights the value of approaching themes from different angles. The book will be of great value not only to producers of comparative education research but also to consumers who wish to understand more thoroughly the parameters and value of the field.

Class 2 Transferases I : EC 2.1.1
This new, second edition reflects considerable progress in enzymology: many enzymes are newly classified or reclassified. Each entry is correlated with references and one or more source organisms. New datafields are created: application and engineering (for the properties of enzymes where the sequence has been changed). The total amount of material contained in the Handbook has more than doubled so that the complete second edition consists of 39 volumes as well as a Synonym Index. In addition, starting in 2009, all newly classified enzymes are treated in Supplement Volumes. Springer Handbook of Enzymes is an ideal source of information for researchers in biochemistry, biotechnology, organic and analytical chemistry, and food sciences, as well as for medicinal applications

Cell Separation : Fundamentals, Analytical and Preparative Methods
This special volume on cell separations discusses fundamental and applied aspects of the analytical and preparative cell-separation technologies. The aim is to enlighten the reader with the new developments in cell-separation technologies and at the same time provide sufficient knowledge with other existing and more commonly used techniques. The volume is comprised of contributions from subject experts from both academia and industry, focuses on the research and commercial aspects of cell-separation technology, and provides readers with broader choice. Unlike protein separation, the major challenge in cell separation has been the recovery of the cells in viable form after they are bound to the separation matrix, as cells bind more strongly through multipoint attachment. This is an important focus of the present work and one we believe will provide new insight to researchers in this field
Casting : An Analytical Approach
For a long time, the die cast industry has used trial and error as a leading development method, resulting in tremendous growth in the utilisation of available CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software. This software allows the development of better products that maximise the advantages the die cast process has to offer. Casting: An Analytical Approach will refresh knowledge of the governing laws of the fluid dynamics that have an effect on die cast die and die cast process design. MATLAB® (MathWorks, Inc.) and Visual Basic® (Microsoft) code are listed in Casting: An Analytical Approach for every stage of product, die and die cast process design; providing better understanding of die and process design and simplifying calculations of the die cast die as well as the die cast process. Gas ventilation system calculations and fundamentals of compressible gas flow are also included.
Carotenoids ; Vol.4 : Natural Functions
The Carotenoids book series provides detailed accounts of the fundamental chemistry of carotenoids and the basic methods used in carotenoid research, and critical discussions of the biochemistry, functions and applications of these important compounds. Volume 4 and its companion, Volume 5, deal with the functions of carotenoids in all kinds of living organisms and the actions of carotenoids in human nutrition and health. The material presented in the earlier Volumes is all relevant to studies of biological functions and actions. In particular, biological studies must be supported by a rigorous analytical base. The various analytical procedures described in Volumes 1A and 1B, supplemented by the data for individual compounds given in the Carotenoids Handbook, must be understood and applied correctly, whether they are being used for quantitative analysis, identification or in complex studies of carotenoids in situ.
