It seems difficult and presumptuous to want to write a book on total knee replacement. There are many quality works dealing with this subject. The knee prosthesis has, from its origin, particularly in the United States, given rise to considerable studies in all directions: biomechanical, physiological, biological and industrial. Our goal is to offer the youngest a book of simple knowledge without pretension of completeness or prejudice as to long debated subjects (conservation or not of the posterior cruciate ligament, cement or without cement, resurfacing or not of the patella, fixed plate or mobile platform, etc.), and to give practical advice based on our experience. Why limit yourself to first-line tricompartmentals? Because it is the most common solution to the usual degenerative knee problems. In addition, unicompartment and revision prostheses will be the subject of further literature. Everyone knows that to put a knee prosthesis model, and therefore to a system. However, it is important to be able to keep your freedom of analysis in order to maintain your freedom of choice. You have to know how to put on a knee prosthesis without compromise or fanaticism. The aim of this work is to take stock in a clear and didactic way on all the current knowledge on osteoarthritis of the knee and its treatment. It successively addresses the diagnosis and the medical treatment, then the surgical treatments then finally the various aspects of the total knee prosthesis. This book is designed to be read at several levels: basic information is intended particularly for non-specialist or trainee surgeons, rheumatologists, rehabilitation physicians, radiologists and physiotherapists. More specialized aspects are discussed in a second part of the book concerning the future of medical treatment (biology, gene therapy) and certain complex problems of surgical techniques. Cerebral palsy
Cerebral palsy is a lifelong condition that affects the individual, family, and immediate community. Therefore, the goal of allowing the individual with cerebral palsy to live life with the least impact of the disability requires c- plex attention to the individual and the family. Furthermore, society needs to be sensitive and to accommodate individuals with disabilities by limiting architectural impediments and providing accessible public transportation and communication. The educational system provides the key means for helping the individual prepare to function in society to his or her maximum ability. In many ways, the medical care system probably has the least sign- icant role in preparing the child with cerebral palsy to function optimally in society. However, the medical care system is the place where parents first learn that their child has developmental issues outside the expected norm. It is almost universally the place where parents also expect the child to be made normal in our modern society. In earlier times, the parents would expect healing to possibly come from the doctor, but also they would place hope for healing in religion. As this belief in spiritual or miraculous healing has - creased, a significant font of hope has decreased for parents of young ch- dren with disabilities.
Cardiac reconstructions with allograft tissues
Cryopreserved allograft tissues are now standard materials for the reconstructive cardiac surgeon. Since publication of the first edition ("Cardiac Reconstructions with Allograft Valves") in 1989, the field has progressed dramatically with increased clinical use of cardiovascular allograft tissues, with the development of new surgical techniques, and with advances in the understanding of the fundamentals of valve transplantation biology and cryopreservation. As a result, over two-thirds of the present volume represents new material. Fifty-six authors bring their expertise to thirteen comprehensive, lavishly illustrated sections which discuss the principles of the use of homograft valves, major clinical series of homograft valves for both left and right ventricular outflow tracts, cryopreserved allograft tissue for cardiac reconstruction, cell biology of heart valve leaflets, cryobiology of heart valve preservation, morphological, biochemical, and explant pathology studies of allograft heart valves, allograft valve banking, as well as detailed explanation of surgical techniques for valve and root methods for left and right ventricular outflow tract reconstructions, the Ross operation and variants, and complex reconstructions. Anorectal Malformations in Children : Embryology, Diagnosis, Surgical Treatment, Follow-up

A History of Limb Amputation
