Handbook of neurochemistry and molecular neurobiology : Neurotransmitter Systems
The brain is the organ that collects information from the environment, processes and stores the information, and generates behavior as and when needed. In essence, the brain makes us who we are. For this reason, understanding the biology of brain function is a great challenge and a major goal of modern science. The brain is one of the last great frontiers in science, and the unraveling of its mysteries is comparable in complexity to efforts in space exploration. A fundamental goal of neuroscience is to understand how neurons generate behavior and the pathophysiology of different mental and neurological diseases. This requires, among other things, information about where these neurons are located, how they are connected, and how they communicate with each other in various physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Our aim is to describe recent discoveries about the basic operations of the brain and to provide an introduction to the adaptations for specific types of information processing.

Hand Bone Age : A Digital Atlas of Skeletal Maturity
For decades, the determination of bone maturity has relied on a visual evaluation of skeletal development in the hand and wrist, most commonly using the Greulich and Pyle atlas. The Gilsanz and Ratib digital atlas takes advantage of the advent of digital imaging and provides a more effective and objective approach to skeletal maturity assessment. This atlas integrates the key morphological features of ossification in the bones of the hand and wrist and provides idealized, sex- and age-specific images of skeletal development. This computer-generated set of images should serve as a reasonable alternative to the reference books currently available.
Granite genesis : in-situ melting and crustal evolution
In this book we suggest an alternative model for the origin of granite in terms of in-situ meltingintracrustal convection that physically determines the process from partial melting of mid-upper crustal rocks to formation of a convecting magma layer. We illustrate the model using the geological, geochemical and geophysical studies from Australia, North and South America, Europe and China, and conclude that heat convection within a crustal partial melting layer is essential for formation of granite magma and that without convection, partial melting of rocks produces migmatites rather than granites. Granite is layer-like within the crust, and shape and size of granite bodies reflect the geometric relationship between an irregular upper surface of the crystallised magma layer and erosion surface. Repeated melting of the crust generates downward-younging granite sequences. Chemical and isotopic compositions of granites indicate differentiation within the magma rather than different deep sources.
Globalization and Summit Reform : An Experiment in International Governance
This account of the 'L-20 project' describes and analyses a 3-year mobilization designed as an alternative to the political deadlocks preventing progress on critical global issues. The L-20 would include leaders from the existing G-countries, augmented by key regional powers such as China, Brazil, India, South Africa and Egypt. The book traces the origins and findings of the project, which generated a broad array of cutting-edge research and over twenty substantive, action-oriented workshops involving hundreds of experts and practitioners around the world. The workshop series examined in detail the operational possibilities for a Leaders Group addressing a range of issues, including infectious disease control, climate change/global warming, energy security, nuclear proliferation, management of international financial crises, and the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation, to name just a few.
Giant Metallic Deposits : Future Sources of Industrial Metals
Geological characteristics of giant metallic deposits and their setting and the politico-economic constraints of access to and exploitation in prospective areas have been a "hot topic" in the past fifteen years, but the knowledge generated and published has been one-sided, scattered and fragmented. This is the first comprehensive book on the subject that provides body of solid facts rather than rapidly changing theories, written by author of the Empirical Metallogeny book series and founder of the Data Metallogenica visual knowledge system on mineral deposits of the world, who has had an almost 40 years long international academic and industrial experience. The book will provide abundant material for comparative research in metallogeny, practical information for the explorationists as to where to look for the "elephants", and some inspiration for commodity investors.

They are of particular economic importance for food production as pollinators, for natural products like silk and also as pests and parasites. Arthropods covered in this volume include honeybee, bumblebee, the parasitic Jewel Wasp, silkworm, pea aphid, mosquito, Hessian fly and tick.
Generator remote controlling using internet connection
The traditional technique of monitoring the electricity generated through regular checks on the alternator variables: oil, temperature, voltage and current on a daily basis. Therefore, maintaining a normal performance cycle requires hard work and is often imprecise. The idea is to create an application that monitors wireless generators using the popular smartphone Android operating system. Implemented sensors deliver analog signals that provide real-time data on the status of the generator. This data is converted and programmed through the Node MCU microcontroller, which reads the results from the sensors and then converts into a signal, which is transmitted to the android phone, through a router. Thus live feedback of the generator status is ensured. In addition, this project provides a control button that can actually turn this generator on and off. This project is the first step towards bringing systems and control together as it revolutionizes the ideology of monitoring and displaying real-time data that can be implemented in different fields according to different needs. These fields include electricity, mechanics, and communications.
Generative adversarial text to image synthesis
Synthesizing high-quality images from text descriptions is a challenging problem in computer vision and has many practical applications. Samples generated by existing text-to-image approaches can roughly reflect the meaning of the given descriptions, but they fail to contain necessary details and vivid object parts. In order to make the project more specialized, it was approved that the project be dedicated to fashion image generation, we present an effective approach for generating new clothing through generative adversarial learning. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) successfully show the capability of synthesizing sharper images compared to other generative models.
Gender Innovation and Migration in Switzerland
This book analyses migration and its relation to socio-political transformation in Switzerland. It addresses how migration has made new forms of life possible and shows how this process generated gender innovation in different fields: the changing division of work, the establishment of a nursery infrastructure, access to higher education for women, and the struggle for female suffrage. Seeing society through the lens of migration alters the perspective from which our past and thus our present is told—and our future imagined.
Fuzzy Chaotic Systems : Modeling, Control, and Applications
"Fuzzy Chaotic Systems" provides original heuristic research achievements and insightful ideas on the interactions or intrinsic relationships between fuzzy logic and chaos theory. It presents the fundamental concepts of fuzzy logic and fuzzy control, chaos theory and chaos control, as well as thedefinition of chaos on the metric space of fuzzy sets. This monograph discusses and illustrates fuzzy modeling and fuzzy control of chaotic systems, synchronization, anti-control of chaos, intelligent digital redesign, spatiotemporal chaos and synchronization in complex fuzzy systems; as well as a practical application example of fuzzy-chaos-based cryptography. Like other very good books, this book may raise more questions than it can provide answers. It therefore generates a great potential to attract more attention to combine fuzzy systems with chaos theory and contains important seeds for future scientific research and engineering applications.
Fundamentals of Cavitation
Treats cavitation, which is a unique phenomenon in the field of hyd- dynamics, although it can occur in any hydraulic machinery such as pumps, propellers, artificial hearts, and so forth. Cavitation is generated not only in water, but also in any kind of fluid, such as liquid hydrogen. The generation of cavitation can cause severe damage in hydraulic machinery. Therefore, the prevention of cavitation is an important concern for designers of hydraulic machinery. On the contrary, there is great potential to utilize cavitation in various important applications, such as environmental protection. There have been several books published on cavitation, including one by the same authors. This book differs from those previous ones, in that it is both more physical and more theoretical. Any theoretical explanation of the cavitation phenomenon is rather difficult, but the authors have succeeded in explaining it very well, and a reader can follow the equations easily. It is an advantage in reading this book to have some understanding of the physics of cavitation. Therefore, this book is not an introductory text, but a book for more advanced study. However, this does not mean that this book is too difficult for a beginner, because it explains the cavitation phenomenon using many figures. Therefore, even a beginner on cavitation can read and can understand what cavitation is.

Furthermore, international case studies look at the application of Stakeholder Management in a wide array of industries such as the automotive, public and hospitality sector as well as the consumer market. The reader benefits from a well-rounded account of articles that explain the entire process from data collection to implementation of actions derived from result analysis.
Foundations for Local Governance : Decentralization in Comparative Perspective
Various forms of decentralization are recently pursued in the world, including developing countries. However, there has not been a coherent framework to access these intended outcomes generated by decentralization measures implemented in Asian and African countries. This book provides such a framework based on comparative analyses of different experiences of decentralization measures in six developing countries, where the policy rationale to “bring services closer to people” originated in different socio-political backgrounds. Although decentralization measures are potentially useful for attaining both political democratization and economic efficiency, what is often packaged under the umbrella of “decentralization” needs to be disaggregated analytically. Successful reforms need coherent approaches in which a range of stakeholders would become willing to share responsibilities and resources in order to achieve the ultimate outcome of poverty reduction in the developing countries.
Foundation Web Design with Dreamweaver 8
Dreamweaver is Macromedia's bestselling web design/development environment. Dreamweaver has the capability to generate dynamic website code using server-side languages like ASP, PHP, and ASP.NET. We know that you don't always require a full database-driven site though, so this book focuses on using version 8 of Dreamweaver to design and create usable, standards-compliant websites using XHTML and CSS. One of the highlights of this version is much closer, tighter CSS/XHTML. This book will show you how to make the most of that feature. After a brief introduction to the latest version of Dreamweaver, and how CSS and XHTML fit into it, Craig Grannell looks at using the software for your web design projects in a hands-on, task based manner.
Forensic Genetics in the Governance of Crime
This book uses a critical sociological perspective to explore contemporary ways of reformulating the governance of crime through genetics. Through the lens of scientific knowledge and genetic technology, Machado and Granja offer a unique perspective on current trends in crime governance. They explore the place and role of genetics in criminal justice systems, and show how classical and contemporary social theory can help address challenges posed by social processes and interactions generated by the uses, meanings, and expectations attributed to genetics in the governance of crime
Fluid dynamics of cavitation and cavitating turbopumps
The book focuses on the fluid dynamics of cavitation with special reference to high power density turbopumps, where it represents the major source of performance and life degradation and often generates the conditions for the onset of dangerous fluid dynamic instabilities. To this purpose the first part of the book covers the more fundamental aspects of cavitation (nucleation, bubble dynamics, thermodynamic effects, cavitation erosion, stability of parallel bubbly flows) and the main kinds of cavitating flows (attached cavitation, cloud cavitation, supercavitation, ventilated supercavities, vortex cavitation, shear cavitation). The second part focuses on the hydrodynamics and instabilities of cavitating turbopumps (cavitation surge, rotating cavitation, higher order cavitation surge, rotordynamic whirl forces). Finally, the third part illustrates the alternative approaches for modeling and engineering simulation of cavitating flows.
Fixed prosthodontics in dental practice
The practice of fixed prosthodontics has undergone many changes in recent times with significant developments in dental materials and principles of adhesion. However, tooth preparation is still guided by the need to preserve tooth tissue, generate space for restorative material and reshape the tooth to a cylindrical form with a defined finish line. This book carries these principles as a common theme and delineates the stages of prosthesis construction.
