It seems difficult and presumptuous to want to write a book on total knee replacement. There are many quality works dealing with this subject. The knee prosthesis has, from its origin, particularly in the United States, given rise to considerable studies in all directions: biomechanical, physiological, biological and industrial. Our goal is to offer the youngest a book of simple knowledge without pretension of completeness or prejudice as to long debated subjects (conservation or not of the posterior cruciate ligament, cement or without cement, resurfacing or not of the patella, fixed plate or mobile platform, etc.), and to give practical advice based on our experience. Why limit yourself to first-line tricompartmentals? Because it is the most common solution to the usual degenerative knee problems. In addition, unicompartment and revision prostheses will be the subject of further literature. Everyone knows that to put a knee prosthesis model, and therefore to a system. However, it is important to be able to keep your freedom of analysis in order to maintain your freedom of choice. You have to know how to put on a knee prosthesis without compromise or fanaticism. This book on Sphincter functions provides an update on a very topical subject, urinary and anal incontinence. Divided into three parts, it first deals with fundamental aspects, whether anatomical, physiological or clinical. Le dépistage du cancer colorectal : État des lieux et perspectives = Colorectal cancer screening: Current status and perspectives
Prevention and screening are two major challenges for Public Health to reduce cancer mortality in our country. Screening for colorectal cancer is therefore quite exemplary. The number one cancer in both sexes in France, its incidence continues to increase due to the aging of the population. Its mortality remains high, in the order of fifty percent, despite the major therapeutic advances made in recent years. Preceded by a precancerous lesion - the adenomatous polyp, which can be removed by colonoscopy - colorectal cancer is also curable at the early stage. Finally, it can be the subject of a screening strategy, the impact of which has been demonstrated today on the reduction in mortality, when it is detected before any symptom by a simple test for blood in the stool followed by , in case of positivity, by a total colonoscopy. This book takes stock of the scientific rationale and the state of play of organized colorectal cancer screening in France. It is also an opportunity to discuss emerging techniques and strategies that can help improve the results of this screening if they prove their superiority over the current strategy. Intended primarily for doctors, this book is also intended for healthcare professionals and all those who, concerned about their health, have a proactive attitude in terms of screening and preventing this cancer.

Complement and Kidney Disease
It is evident that a defective or deregulated complement system results in kidney diseases. An important role of complement effector and regulatory proteins in pathological settings of the kidney has been demonstrated. A large panel of distinct human kidney diseases is caused by defective complement control. Genetic analyses have identified mutations in complement regulators that are associated with these diseases. Mutations have been identified in the fluid phase alternative pathway regulator Factor H and the membrane regulator Membrane Cofactor Protein MCP (CD46). The functional characterization of the mutant proteins allows to define the pathophysiological events on a molecular level. These new concepts and data on disease mechanisms allowed establishing new diagnostic and promising therapeutic approaches for several human kidney diseases. Molecular biology, clinics and therapy are discussed in this volume.
