Diagnosis and Fault-Tolerant Control
The book presents effective model-based analysis and design methods for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control. Architectural and structural models are used to analyse the propagation of the fault throughout the process, to test the fault detectability and to find the redundancies in the process that can be used to ensure fault tolerance. Design methods for diagnostic systems and fault-tolerant controllers are presented for processes that are described by analytical models, by discrete-event models or that can be dealt with as quantised systems. Five case studies on pilot processes show the applicability of the presented methods. The theoretical results are illustrated by two running examples used throughout the book.

Shukla deliver a practical analysis of how contactless coronavirus detectors may be developed using existing biosensor technology.
Defending Life : The Nature of Host-Parasite Relations
Defending Life discusses the relationship between hosts and parasites. A major contention of the book is that the immune system depends ontologically on the ecosystem in which it is embedded; it would not have the features it has if it was not related in one way or other to parasitic agents and to the host’s own cells and tissues. To sustain the argument, life is investigated at all layers – from molecules up through cells, organisms and ecosystems. Together with the inverse course, which goes from ecological contingencies down to gene-expression profiles, the approach facilitates an advanced understanding of immunocompetence as well as its converse, immunoincompetence. The emphasis on analytical abstractions, coherent patterns and generative mechanisms makes possible the distinction between genuine causality and coincidental associations, and thus increases the understanding of why we observe what we observe. The book contains detailed descriptions of the immune system and the microbial world as well as methodological and conceptual clarifications.

Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery ; 9th International Conference, DaWaK 2007, Regensburg, Germany, September 3-7, 2007, Proceedings
Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery have been widely accepted as key te- nologies for enterprises and organizations to improve their abilities in data analysis, decision support, and the automatic extraction of knowledge from data. With the exponentially growing amount of information to be included in the decision-making process, the data to be processed become more and more complex in both structure and semantics. Consequently, the process of retrieval and knowledge discovery from this huge amount of heterogeneous complex data constitutes the reality check for research in the area.
Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery ; 4th International Conference, DaWaK 2002, Aix-en-Provence, France, September 4-6, 2002. Proceedings
Within the last few years Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery technology has established itself as a key technology for enterprises that wish to improve the quality of the results obtained from data analysis, decision support, and the automatic extraction of knowledge from data. The Fourth International Conference on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK 2002) continues a series of successful conferences dedicated to this topic. Its main objective is to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss research issues and experience in developing and deploying data warehousing and knowledge discovery systems, applications, and solutions.

COVID-19 and new aspects of treatment that might lower the risks and mortality rate
Coronaviruses are enveloped non-segmented positive-sense RNA viruses belonging to the family Coronaviridae. The human coronavirus infections are mild; the epidemics of the two βcoronaviruses, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) have caused more than ten thousand cumulative cases in the past two decades. There is a new public health crisis threatening the world with the emergence and spread of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019nCoV). The virus originated in bats and was transmitted to humans through yet unknown intermediary animals in Wuhan, Hubei province in China during the month of December 2019. After the pandemic have started the scientists and researchers started immediately to find ways and technics to diagnose the virus in a different analytical and chemical methods to investigate and find out more about the new species
Coping with Uncertainty : Modeling and Policy Issues
Ongoing global changes bring fundamentally new scientific problems requiring new concepts and tools. A key issue concerns a vast variety of practically irreducible uncertainties, which challenge our traditional models and require new concepts and analytical tools. The complexity of new problems does not allow to achieve enough certainty by increasing the resolution of models or by bringing in more links. Hence, new tools for modeling and management of uncertainty are needed, as given in this book.

Continuous Semigroups of Holomorphic Self-maps of the Unit Disc
The book faces the interplay among dynamical properties of semigroups, analytical properties of infinitesimal generators and geometrical properties of Koenigs functions. The book includes precise descriptions of the behavior of trajectories, backward orbits, petals and boundary behavior in general, aiming to give a rather complete picture of all interesting phenomena that occur. In order to fulfill this task, we choose to introduce a new point of view, which is mainly based on the intrinsic dynamical aspects of semigroups in relation with the hyperbolic distance and a deep use of Carathéodory prime ends topology and Gromov hyperbolicity theory.

Including aspects of modern process development is highlighted in this book with both the ‘why’ and the ‘how’, emphasizing process modeling and process analytical technologies. Presenting specific case studies and drawing upon extensive experience from industry and academic opinion leaders, this book focuses on the practical aspects of continuous manufacturing. It gives the readers the strategic perspective and technical depth needed to adopt and implement these technologies, where appropriate, in order to gain the competitive edge in speed, agility, and reliability.
