Applications of Mass Spectrometry in Life Safety

MS is continuously developing as one of the most re- able analytical method for elucidating the structure of molecules originating from various biological matrices. The potential of MS for high-sensitive structural a- lyses became unsurpassable after the introduction of electrospray (ESI) and matrix assisted laser/desorption ionization (MALDI) methods, on one hand, and the pos- bility to deduce in detail unknown biopolymer structures by highly accurate mo- cular mass measurement followed by sequencing using dissociation techniques based on multiple stage MS, on the other.

Analysis file of drug-induced lung injury : expert opinion for analysis of big data

Describes the pathologic conditions of drug-induced lung injuries, monitoring strategies, and guides on how to interpret the evidence. It also dives into particular drugs that caused the disorder, such as EGFR inhibitors, anti-EGFR antibodies, mTOR inhibitors, proteasome inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors, neoangiogenesis inhibitors, and other molecular targeted drugs. It outlines the analysis and interpretation of the post-marketing survey on surveillance of each drug for inducing pulmonary lesions presenting diffuse haziness. The data and analysis from this survey are valuable since a guideline is yet to be established due to limited clinical evidence and cases. As new drugs are developed, establishing treatment and event management is crucial.

The pharmacodynamics section focuses on PK/PD modeling. Chapter 5 provides an overview of PK/PD modeling and simulation in clinical practice and studies. Chapter 6 deals with the subject/physiology variability issue encountered in PK/PD studies, while Chapter 7 reviews the influence of clinical pharmacology in the modernization of drug development and regulation. This book is an essential reference for pharmaceutical scientists.

Magazines, Tourism, and Nation-Building in Mexico

This book discusses the relationship between periodicals, tourism, and nation-building in Mexico. It enquires into how magazines, a staple form of the promotional apparatus of tourism since its inception, articulated an imaginative geography of Mexico at a time when that industry became a critical means of economic recovery and political stability after the Revolution. Notwithstanding their vogue, popularity, reach, and close affiliations to commerce and state over several decades, magazines have not received any sustained critical attention in the scholarship on that period.

Common Law, Civil Law, and Colonial Law : Essays in Comparative Legal History from the Twelfth to the Twentieth Centuries

This volume is a selection of essays taken from the excellent range of papers presented at the British Legal History Conference hosted by the Institute for Legal and Constitutional Research at the University of St Andrews, 10-13 July 2019. The theme of the conference gives this book its title: 'comparative legal history'. The topic came easily to the organisers because of their association with the St Andrews-based European Research Council Advanced grant project 'Civil law, common law, customary law: consonance, divergence and transformation in Western Europe from the late eleventh to the thirteenth centuries'.

Big Data and Global Trade Law

Explores the relevance of global trade law for data, big data and cross-border data flows. Contributing authors from different disciplines including law, economics and political science analyze developments at the World Trade Organization and in preferential trade venues by asking what future-oriented models for data governance are available and viable in the area of trade law and policy. The collection paints the broad picture of the interaction between digital technologies and trade regulation as well as provides in-depth analyses of critical to the data-driven economy issues, such as privacy and AI, and different countries' perspectives.

Artificial intelligence and legal analytics : new tools for law practice in the digital age

The field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the law is on the cusp of a revolution. This book - designed to explain computational processes to non-programmers - describes how text analytic programs will change the practice of law, specifically by connecting computational models of legal reasoning directly with legal text.

Artificial Intelligence and International Economic Law : Disruption, Regulation, and Reconfiguration

This book was finalized while countries around the world were still confronting a global public health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many came to rely on digital services as an infrastructure for social interaction and professional endeavors, including academic and educational work. The pandemic seems to have precipitated a further shift towards digital technologies and artificial intelligence. It is our hope that this book will contribute to an informed discussion about the relevance of and implications for international economic law beyond the pandemic"

img

An introduction to law

this book addresses the ways in which rules and the structures of law respond to and impact upon changes in economic and political life. The title has been extensively updated and explores recent high profile developments such as the Civil Partnership Act 2005 and the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill.

Boundary Representation Modelling Techniques

Boundary representation is the principle solid modelling method used in modern CAD/CAM systems. There have been a long series of developments on which currently available systems are based, full details of which are only partially known. Ian Stroud’s thorough coverage of these developments puts this technology in perspective. Ian Stroud started working with boundary representation solid modelling in 1977. Since then he has researched and is researching a wide variety of topics in and around this field. The information in the book comes from the results of this research.

Beyond the Worst-Case Analysis of Algorithms

There are no silver bullets in algorithm design, and no single algorithmic idea is powerful and flexible enough to solve every computational problem. Nor are there silver bullets in algorithm analysis, as the most enlightening method for analyzing an algorithm often depends on the problem and the application. However, typical algorithms courses rely almost entirely on a single analysis framework, that of worst-case analysis, wherein an algorithm is assessed by its worst performance on any input of a given size. The purpose of this book is to popularize several alternatives to worst-case analysis and their most notable algorithmic applications, from clustering to linear programming to neural network training. Forty leading researchers have contributed introductions to different facets of this field, emphasizing the most important models and results, many of which can be taught in lectures to beginning graduate students in theoretical computer science and machine learning.
