Dr. Afraa Al-Nokkari

She is a prominent specialist in Analytical Chemistry and Food Control, with over 15 years of academic and research experience in university education, scientific supervision, and laboratory work within the fields of food analysis and modern analytical techniques. She earned her PhD in Pharmacy, specializing in Food Control, from Damascus University, after obtaining both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same university.

She has held significant academic and administrative positions at the Arab International University, including Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2021–2025) and Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs (2018–2021). She currently serves as the Head of the Analytical and Food Chemistry Department and is an Associate Professor in the department, teaching courses in Physical Pharmacy, Nutrition, and Dietetics.

Alongside her academic career, she possesses practical experience at the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection as an expert in the Directorate of Technical Affairs, Quality, and Laboratories. She has maintained ongoing research activity in food control and nutrition since 2011, in addition to supervising postgraduate students at Damascus University.

Dr. Afraa is characterized by her extensive expertise in advanced analytical techniques, such as HPLC, UV spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and Atomic Absorbance, among others.

Her scientific record includes numerous research papers published in international and local peer-reviewed journals, covering topics such as food analysis, antioxidants, food product stability, and the development of analytical methods. She has also contributed lectures and scientific presentations at national and international conferences and participated in Erasmus+ training and teaching programs in Poland, Ireland, and Italy. Furthermore, she has taken part in several specialized scientific conferences, most notably the First Food Technology Conference and the Damascus Pharmaceutical Science Days 2019.
