Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fayez Kiwan
Professor at the Faculty of Informatics Engineering – Arab International University

An academic and expert in the fields of information processing and electrical engineering, with over four decades of experience in scientific research, university teaching, and academic administration. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Processing from the University of Rennes 1 – France, where his dissertation focused on developing a model for an ultra-high-speed packet switch. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the École Supérieure d'Électricité (Supélec) in Paris and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Damascus.

He began his professional career at the Damascus Center for Scientific Studies and Research, where he advanced from an assigned engineer to a principal researcher and then to research director. He headed the Informatics Research Department between 1986 and 1999. Additionally, he contributed to strategic research and development projects in information systems and computer networks and was one of the key contributors to obtaining an international patent for the development of an ultra-high-speed packet switch in France in 1985.

On the academic front, he served as a faculty member and coordinator of the College of Computer Science at King Khalid University – Saudi Arabia. He later held leadership positions in Syrian universities, including Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Qalamoun University, President of Al-Yarmouk Private University, and Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Communications Engineering at the Arab International University until 2024. He is currently a faculty member at the same university.

He has taught a wide range of courses in informatics engineering and supporting subjects, including Introduction to Computer Science, Algorithms and Data Structures, Programming in C++ and C#, Data Communication, Computer Networks, and Electrical Circuits. He has also supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate capstone projects and contributed to the development of academic curricula and computerized student information systems.

In addition to his academic activities, he has participated in local and international conferences and published research papers and scientific articles in specialized journals. He has been a member of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics since 1994 and is a consulting engineer registered with the Syrian Engineers Syndicate.
