Dr. Sulaiman Mouselli.
He holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), an M.Sc. in Finance and Economics from the same university, a Master’s in Financial Markets from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences in Amman, Jordan, a Postgraduate Diploma in Monetary and Financial Economics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Damascus University. Additionally, he has advanced qualifications in financial markets and financial economics from Syrian and Arab universities. His academic experience includes teaching and research at prestigious universities in the UK, such as the University of Manchester and Bangor University.
Currently, he serves as the Deputy Executive Director of the Damascus Securities Exchange since 2021, a member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Supervisory Commission since 2024, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Excellence and Creativity Commission since 2025, and Director of the Master’s Program in NGO Management at the Syrian Virtual University since 2024. He has also chaired important committees within the Union of Arab Securities Authorities.
He has an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed research published in prestigious international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, with a high H-index of 21 and over 1,280 citations. His research focuses on financial markets, Islamic finance, corporate governance, portfolio management, financial technology, and the impact of crises on the financial sector. He has published more than 50 papers in reputable international journals such as the Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting, Cogent Economics and Finance, and The British Accounting Review. He also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals.
In addition to his academic activities, he has contributed to training financial and banking professionals through local and regional programs in Damascus and Muscat. He has played a prominent role in promoting financial education and developing Islamic finance programs in Syria and the region. He has also supervised dozens of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
