Dr. Mazen Abbas
He is one of the Syrian architects who has combined academic and practical expertise both inside and outside Syria. He holds a Diploma in Architectural Engineering and a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and currently serves as a faculty member at the College of Architectural Engineering at the Arab International University.
His professional career has been distinguished by the diversity and breadth of his projects. He established a licensed private engineering office through the Engineers Syndicate in Rural Damascus, through which he manages the design and execution of major architectural projects, including industrial facilities, residential towers, private buildings, and villas in Damascus, Latakia, and Hama. He also participated in the preparation and implementation of engineering studies for the General Civil Aviation Authority at the airports of Damascus, Deir ez-Zor, and Palmyra, in addition to various cladding works and local studies submitted to the Engineers Syndicate.
His experience was not limited to Syria but extended to Greece, where he worked for over ten years in prestigious engineering firms. He held the positions of General Manager and Head of the Construction Department at PAP Hotels Corporation, overseeing major hotel and residential projects, including the expansion of Xenia Ouranoupolis Hotel and villa complexes in Thessaloniki, as well as projects for the restoration of monuments and memorials.
He also collaborated with other Greek engineering companies and offices, participating in the design and implementation of warehouses, fuel stations, and commercial offices, alongside research and academic projects for Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Democritus University of Thrace. These projects included the design of university buildings, indoor sports halls, and academic departments, some of which received prestigious engineering awards.
He possesses exceptional expertise in supervising all project stages, from initial studies to final execution, and combines academic and professional aspects in architectural engineering and urban planning.
