Dr. Essa AlTheb

Syrian academic and legal researcher in criminal law. Holds a Ph.D. in Criminal Law from Damascus University, with a dissertation titled "The Legitimacy of Electronic Evidence in Criminal Proof: A Comparative Study." Also earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Law.

Extensive experience in university teaching since 2020, having taught at the Faculty of Law at Damascus University, the Arab International University (AIU), the Third Faculty of Law in Quneitra, and the Syrian Virtual University. Courses taught include: Criminal Procedure, General and Special Penal Law, Military Law, and Juvenile Delinquency Law. Additionally, supervises Master’s and Ph.D. theses and participates in their evaluation committees.

Has held academic and administrative positions, including Dean of the Third Faculty of Law in Quneitra, and Vice Dean for Administrative, Student, and Academic Affairs. Serves as a scientific reviewer for the Damascus University Journal of Legal Sciences, a member of Master’s and Ph.D. thesis evaluation committees, and has been a registered lawyer with the Bar Association since 2022.

Published numerous peer-reviewed research papers in Syrian and Arab journals, including topics such as: "The Compatibility of Traditional Jurisdictional Rules with Cybercrimes," "The Role of International Cooperation in Combating Cybercrimes," and "Provisions of the Judicial Monitoring System and Its Effectiveness."

Has also participated as a speaker in training workshops and academic seminars on economic and financial crimes, legal skills, and globalization and its impacts, in collaboration with local and international institutions such as UNICEF.
