Dr. Bassam George Farkouh
Faculty Member at the College of Civil Engineering - Arab International University
Academic and researcher in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Water Engineering. He obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Grenoble Alpes University in France, along with a Master's degree in Mechanics and Geophysics from the same university, in addition to a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University.

He has held several prestigious academic positions, beginning his teaching career at Al-Baath University before moving to Damascus University, where he taught advanced courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Dam Engineering, and Integrated Water Resources Management. He also served as the Head of the Water Department at Damascus University.

Currently, he is a Professor at the Arab International University, where he previously held the position of Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering. He continues to teach specialized courses and supervise graduation projects.

In addition to his academic career, he has worked as a Technical Consultant for Oxfam - Syria since 2015, evaluating technical proposals for water supply network projects, pumping and treatment stations, and managing training programs in risk management and specialized software such as WaterCad and Water Hammer.

He has overseen the design and implementation of several major water projects, including the design of a water supply project from the Sirwan River to Kalar University in Iraq, and the supervision of water and sanitation networks for the new campus of Suwayda University and Khbab Hospital.

He has a rich record of research contributions published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has co-authored several textbooks, including "Integrated Water Resources Management" and "Hydraulic Structures." He has participated in numerous international conferences and seminars in Germany, France, and Sweden and has received advanced training in water planning from SIWI in Sweden.
