Arch. Muhsen Maksoud

Arch. Muhsen Maksoud

A leading architect and a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at Damascus University. He has been a member of the Syrian Order of Engineers since 1986, holding the rank of Consultant Engineer. In 1990, he founded and managed the Maqsoud Architectural Group (MAG). Throughout his distinguished career, he has held several leadership positions, including serving as a Board Member of Arab Bank (2018–2022). Since 2007, he has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab International University (AIU) in Damascus.

Arch. Maqsoud designed the campus of the Arab International University along with several other universities. He has actively participated in postgraduate jury committees and numerous local and international workshops. His contributions to the Syrian architectural movement include projects, publications, and articles that have earned him multiple awards and honors.

In 2003, he launched "Engineering Creations" (Ebdaat Hendasiya), the first Syrian magazine specialized in architecture and academic research. He also edited a book on the renowned architect Fernando de Aranda as a tribute to his legacy. Arch. Maqsoud has represented Syria in various Arab and international conferences and exhibitions, including the Middle East Architectural Conference in Kuwait (2005). In 2006, he organized the first Architects' Festival in Syria and has collaborated with global architectural icons, such as Zaha Hadid and the Spanish firm Cloud9.
