Foreign Language Center (FLC)
Academic Language Education Supporting University Excellence and Career Development
The Foreign Language Center at Arab International University (AIU) is a specialized academic unit dedicated to developing students' linguistic competencies, supporting their university journey and enhancing their academic and professional readiness. The center offers a variety of courses in English, Spanish, German, and French, carefully designed to meet the needs of students at all proficiency levels.
Given that English is the primary language of instruction at the university, the center focuses significantly on developing English language skills through an integrated program consisting of four sequential levels (0–3). Level 3 is a specialized English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program, taught within the context of the respective faculty to serve the student's specific academic major.
The English Placement Test is the first step adopted by the center to ensure students are placed in the level appropriate to their linguistic abilities. Upon successful completion of all levels, students receive an official certificate of completion indicating their language proficiency level, which typically ranges between B1 and B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
In addition to the core programs, the center offers a range of specialized academic courses aimed at enhancing academic and professional communication skills in English, contributing to student success during their university studies and after graduation.
The Foreign Language Center is equipped with modern language laboratories that support interactive learning methods. Instruction is supervised by a team of highly qualified instructors with extensive academic experience, establishing a distinguished reputation for the center in the field of language education.
