Dr. Eng. Walid Al-Awad

He is an academic professional in civil engineering, combining teaching, research, and administrative experience. He graduated from the University of Damascus with a degree in Civil Engineering and pursued postgraduate studies in Germany, obtaining a Diploma in Structural Software Engineering from Weimar University (Bauhaus) and a PhD in Automated Project Systems from the same institution.

He began his academic career at the University of Damascus as a faculty member in the Faculty of Civil Engineering between 2002 and 2018, serving as Head of the Informatics and Computer-Aided Design Division until 2014. He then joined the Arab International University, holding several positions, including Head of the Structural Engineering Department, Head of the Basic Sciences Department, Vice Dean for Administrative and Student Affairs, and, since 2018, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

In addition to his administrative and academic roles, he has taught a wide range of advanced courses, including Numerical Road Simulation in Civil Engineering and Applications, Finite Element Method, Advanced Mathematics and Informatics, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Optimal Structural Design.

He has also participated in specialized research at the Elbehaus Industrie AG Institute in Germany, focusing on topics such as the use of computer-aided design (CAD) systems for precast concrete elements, production of lightweight concrete using CAD/CAM techniques, and building databases for precast concrete elements with software development for structural analysis.

His career exemplifies a university professor who combines teaching, scientific research, and academic administration, contributing to the development of engineering education and the advancement of engineering faculties in Syria.
