Prof. Dr. Massoud Al-Atassi
Faculty Member, College of Information Engineering – Arab International University

A distinguished academic and expert in electronic engineering, mechatronics, and industrial automation, with extensive experience spanning over three decades in university teaching, scientific research, and academic administration. He earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from Le Havre University, France, where his dissertation focused on high-speed digital data transmission via underwater ultrasonic waves. He also holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Microdevices and Control from Rouen University, France, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Damascus University.

 

He has held numerous academic and administrative positions, including Professor at Homs University (Mechatronics Engineering Department), Lecturer at Damascus University (Computer and Automation Engineering Department), Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs and Head of the Computer and Communications Department at the College of Information and Communications Engineering, Arab International University, and Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Rashed International Private University for Science and Technology. Previously, he worked as a researcher and assistant professor at Le Havre University and technical higher institutes in France, in addition to gaining practical experience at leading French companies such as Schneider Electric and Alstom in the fields of industrial control, networks, and programming.

 

Academically, he has taught a wide range of courses, including: digital system design, microcontrollers, industrial automation, sensor networks, modern control systems, industrial electronics, and SCADA. He has also supervised graduate students in Lebanon in collaboration with the Francophone University Agency and contributed to the development of educational programs in France and Syria.

 

He has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers and scientific books in the fields of industrial control, networks, mechatronics, and renewable energy, including the books Microcontrollers (2018), Programmable Logic Controller (2020), and Industrial Communication Systems (2023), as well as recent research on communication security in SCADA systems (2025) and applications of deep learning in interpreting brain activity using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
