This two-volume set of LNAI 12340 and LNAI 12341 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th CCF Conference on Natural Language Processing and Chinese Computing, NLPCC 2020, held in Zhengzhou, China, in October 2020. The 70 full papers, 30 poster papers and 14 workshop papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 320 submissions. Traditionally, there are topics discussed in three main aspects. All of them must be considered in a united manner in order to investigate and understand the emergence and evolution of communities in the Internet: knowledge about networking, content and text processing as well as theory. The goal of the I2CS workshop is to bring researchers from both industry and academic fields together to discuss current progress and future developments in these areas and to eliminate the gap between theory and application. At this point, we want to express immense gratitude to all the authors of the submitted papers and to the members of the international Program Committee for their contribution to the success of the event and a program of high quality. In a peer-to-peer review process, 17 papers were selected out of 27 submissions.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed postproceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Innovative Internet Community Systems, IICS 2004, held in Guadalajara, Mexico, in June 2004. The 25 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers have been carefully reviewed. They focus mainly on system-oriented problems, text processing, and theoretical foundations of distributed and Internet systems. They also deal with speed and quality-of-service problems of Internet protocols, aspects of cooperation and collaboration in Internet systems, as well as agent and text-processing-based methods. In addition, 9 papers stem from two mini-workshops, one on computational epidemiology and the other on optimization of urban traffic systems.
Data and Text Processing for Health and Life Sciences
This book is a step-by-step introduction on how shell scripting can help solve many of the data processing tasks that Health and Life specialists face everyday with minimal software dependencies. The examples presented in the book show how simple command line tools can be used and combined to retrieve data and text from web resources, to filter and mine literature, and to explore the semantics encoded in biomedical ontologies. To store data this book relies on open standard text file formats, such as TSV, CSV, XML, and OWL, that can be open by any text editor or spreadsheet application.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Computational Linguistics and Intelligent Text Processing, CICLing 2005, held in Mexico City, Mexico in February 2005. An approach that involves natural language analysis techniques for the treatment of software system functional requirements is described in this book. This approach is used as the basis for a process developed to generate sequence diagrams automatically from the textual specification of use cases. This facility has been integrated in the Requirements Engineering Phase of OO-Method, an automatic production environment of software. For this purpose, a translator that is based on natural language parser is used. The translator provides grammatical information to each use case sentence and it identifies the corresponding interaction. The automatic transformation is conceived and specified following an orientation that is based on models and patterns. The results of the validation of the transformation patterns are presented.

Combinatorial Pattern Matching addresses issues of searching and matching strings and more complicated patterns such as trees, regular expressions, graphs, point sets, and arrays.The goal is to derive non-trivial combinatorial properties of such structures and to exploit these properties in order to either achieve superior performance for the corresponding computational problems or pinpoint conditions under which searches cannot be performed eficiently.

Traditional cartoon generation techniques face formidable technical challenges and require substantial resources. Research efforts towards direct video synthesis from text have encountered obstacles in developing efficient techniques. In parallel, researchers propose an alternative approach involving the generation of dynamic sequences of images portraying children's story narratives. This approach includes applying various visual effects to highlight motion, interaction, and excitement in storytelling. By dynamically generating a sequence of images reflecting the narrative's progression and applying diverse visual effects, this alternative method offers a flexible and practical solution to cartoon generation challenges, providing an efficient and effective experience akin to video while retaining the magical appeal of visual storytelling. ...
Artificial intelligence for multimedia signal processing
Artificial intelligence technologies are also actively applied to broadcasting and multimedia processing technologies. A lot of research has been conducted in a wide variety of fields, such as content creation, transmission, and security, and these attempts have been made in the past two to three years to improve image, video, speech, and other data compression efficiency in areas related to MPEG media processing technology. Additionally, technologies such as media creation, processing, editing, and creating scenarios are very important areas of research in multimedia processing and engineering. This book contains a collection of some topics broadly across advanced computational intelligence algorithms and technologies for emerging multimedia signal processing as: Computer vision field, speech/sound/text processing, and content analysis/information mining.
