The term ‘Internet of Things’ hascome to describe a number of technologies and researchdisciplines that enable the - ternet to reach out into the real world of physical objects. Technologies such as RFID, short-range wireless communications, real-time localization, and sensor networks are becoming increasingly common, bringing the ‘Internet of Things’ into industrial, commercial, and domestic use. IOT 2008 brought together le- ing researchersand practitioners, from both academia and industry, to facilitate the sharing of ideas, applications, and research results.
RFID Security and Privacy : Concepts, Protocols, and Architectures
The book analyses in detail the problems currently being faced by researchers working in the field of RFID technology and discusses the goals and attacker models. This is followed by an introduction to state-of-the-art of RFID security and privacy systems technology. The concepts which underlie the proposed protocols are highlighted, explained, and illustrated using examples. For building open, inter-organizational RFID systems, the classic RFID model is extended and considerations in new directions are explored. RFID systems are then integrated into other parts of the pervasive computing vision. Among the current research results presented in this book, a new comprehensive framework, including required protocols for operation, is introduced. It can be used economically on a global scope, supports inter-organizational cooperation and data sharing, and adheres to all the architectural guidelines derived in this work.

These are the proceedings of the Eighth Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (CHES 2006) held in Yokohama, Japan, October 10-13, 2006. The CHES workshophas been sponsored by the International Association for Cryptographic Research (IACR) since 2004. The ?rst and the second CHES workshops were held in Worcester in 1999 and 2000, respectively, followed by Paris in 2001, San Francisco Bay Area in 2002, Cologne in 2003, Boston in 2004 and Edinburgh in 2005. This is the ?rst CHES workshop held in Asia.
