Yerba mate is a natural alternative of ozempic

Yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis), a traditional South American herbal tea, has gained attention as a potential natural alternative to Ozempic (semaglutide), a pharmaceutical drug used for weight management and type 2 diabetes. Rich in bioactive compounds like caffeine, theobromine, chlorogenic acids, and saponins, yerba mate exhibits appetitesuppressing, metabolism-boosting, and glucose-regulating properties. Studies suggest that yerba mate may enhance satiety, promote fat oxidation, and improve insulin sensitivity, mimicking some effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists like Ozempic—but with fewer side effects

Xenobiotic Metabolic Enzymes Bioactivation and Antioxidant Defense

Xenobiotics are commonly referred to as xenobiotics that humans digest or inhale and are not produced by the body, such as foods, drugs, other chemicals, and air pollutants. Metabolic conversion of xenobiotics to facilitate their removal from the body is catalyzed by activation and detoxification enzymes. These enzymes are essential for bioactivation and detoxification of xenobiotics. Many xenobiotics are non-toxic in nature; however, some of them become cytotoxic or carcinogenic after metabolic conversion. Reactive intermediates or metabolites generated during metabolic conversion are generally electrophilic in nature and are either cations or neutral compounds, including reactive oxygen species and free radicals. Metabolic reactive intermediate-mediated oxidative stress can cause damages to cellular components such as impairment of protein functions, membrane lipid peroxidation, and formation of DNA adduct.

Whole-cell biocatalysis : Next-generation technology for green synthesis of pharmaceutical, chemicals, and biofuels

Is a promising and emerging field of biological science that is mostly based on advancements in biosystems engineering for the production of useful products such as chemicals, fuels, and pharmaceuticals. It is a unique platform that provides an efficient catalytic system at affordable cost and with low maintenance. Recent studies have proven that whole-cell catalysis is very useful in conducting many complex and complicated chemical reactions that could be executed with greater ease and in an eco-friendly manner in ambient conditions with zero/minimal ecological effect. This has made whole-cell biocatalysis very popular and a center of significance in the field of modern biological catalysis.

Vitreo-retinal Surgery ; 1st ed.

Progress in vitreo-retinal surgery is mercurial. Since this series is dedicated to new developments the reader is presented with a motley list of topics. The advancements described here may represent generally accepted progress in the field: New instruments, Macular hole surgery, Tumor biopsy. New ideas are set out to be tested for their benefit, for example: AMD surgery, Adjunctive pharmacotherapy. Reflections on incessant clinical problems in vitreo-retina surgery require superior scrutinization of established surgical techniques and indications: Posterior slippage, Inferior breaks, Subclinical retinal detachments. The editors will expand this list in future editions with topics like: new support for buckling surgery, enzyme assisted vitrectomy, new tamponades and other yet unknown fields of progress.

Vitamin C in human health and disease : Effects, mechanisms of action, and new guidance on intake

Presents the scientific evidence on the effects of vitamin C / Clarifies mechanism of action and benefits / Provides new guidance on daily vitamin C intake Presents the scientific evidence for the role of vitamin C in health and disease and offers new guidance on vitamin C intake in humans. The importance of vitamin C in preventing cancer and cardiovascular disease, its relevance to aging and stress, and its impacts on each of the human body systems are thoroughly assessed on the basis of the author’s extensive research and his deep understanding, as an anatomy professor, of the body as a whole. Findings published in the international scientific literature are fully taken into account, and due consideration is also given to empirical evidence, bearing in mind that mechanisms of action cannot always be precisely defined in the absence of human experiments. Beyond providing an up-to-date scientific perspective on the effects of vitamin C, the author hopes to promote human health worldwide by encouraging proper use of the vitamin.

Vitamin A in health and illnesses

Vitamin A is an essential fat-soluble vitamin found in both animal and plant sources. The human body cannot produce Vitamin A on its own, so it must be obtained from the diet, Focuses on vitamin A, its significant role in human health, particularly in skinrelated conditions and pregnancy . The review also discusses the effects of high doses and vitamin A deficiency, with a particular emphasis on its impact during pregnancy and strategies for preventing deficiency symptoms in pregnant women. The therapeutic effects of vitamin A on the skin, including its role in treating acne vulgaris, other skin diseases like psoriasis, are explored. Special attention is given to isotretinoin (Retane), covering its mechanism of action, benefits, and side effects.

Valuation in Life Sciences : A Practical Guide

Recognizes that there is no consent on how to apply valuation methodologies in life sciences. One of the complicating factors is that, compared to other industries, valuation of biotech innovation is much more demanding. The long 10-15-year development and clinical trials process still represents the main risks faced by any biotech company. Added to that is the fact that getting a drug across the regulatory goal line and receiving Food and Drug Administration approval (or other regulatory agency - proval in the United States or elsewhere in the world) for marketing is no longer good enough.

Valuation in Life Sciences : A Practical Guide ; 2nd ed.

Valuation is a hot topic among life sciences professionals. There is no clear understanding on how to use the different valuation approaches and how to determine input parameters. Some do not value at all, arguing that it is not possible to get realistic and objective numbers out of it. Some claim it to be an art. In the following chapters we will provide the user with a concise val- tion manual, providing transparency and practical insight for all dealing with valuation in life sciences: project and portfolio managers, licensing executives, business developers, technology transfer managers, entrep- neurs, investors, and analysts. The purpose of the book is to explain how to apply discounted cash flow and real options valuation to life sciences p- jects, i.e. to license contracts, patents, and firms. We explain the fun- mentals and the pitfalls with case studies so that the reader is capable of performing the valuations on his own and repeat the theory in the exercises and case studies.
