Transactions on Data Hiding and Multimedia Security I
This inaugural issue contains five papers dealing with a wide range of topics related to multimedia security. The first paper deals with evaluation criteria for the performance of audio watermarking algorithms. The second provides a survey of problems related to watermark security. The third discusses practical implementations of zero-knowledge watermark detectors and proposes efficient solutions for correlation-based detectors. The fourth introduces the concept of Personal Entertainment Domains (PED) in Digital Rights Management (DRM) schemes. The fifth reports on the use of fusion techniques to improve the detection accuracy of steganalysis.
Theoretical and Practical Advances in Computer-based Educational Measurement
Presents a multitude of different, yet related, innovations in educational measurement and provides insight in their practical possibilities. The book not only addresses several improvements in the quality of educational measurement and innovations in (inter)national large scale assessments, but also several advances in psychometrics and improvements in computerized adaptive testing. Moreover, it also offers examples on the impact of new technology in assessment. By bringing together expertise from this variety of fields, advances in assessment are fostered and stimulated. It discussed, among which are review systems tailored for the evaluation of the quality of computer-based educational tests, the Curie-Weiss model as a paradigm for the analysis of educational data, Bayesian techniques to decide on mastery in formative educational measurement and the comparison of Elo chess ratings as strategies for on-the-fly item calibration in computerized adaptive tests.

IWDW 2006 was held on Jeju, the dream island in Korea. The main theme of the workshop was “Meet the Challenges in this Digital World!” As we all know, digital watermarking and its related technologies have emerged as the key ingredients of this digital world. We report on new developments and discuss how to best utilize the watermarking and its related new technologies to cope with many challenging issues in this digital world.
