Toxicologic pathology : A primer
Contains core information provided by board-certified veterinary pathologists, all experts in the field. The Primer contains the basic, underlying principles of toxicologic pathology at the introductory level; thus it will be valuable to the veterinary pathology student who may be considering a career in the field as well as a companion to the seasoned toxicologic pathologist who wants a succinct refresher. The Primer is arranged as chapters presenting each major organ system preceded by an overview chapter covering the field of toxicologic pathology followed by a “concept” chapter describing the role of toxicologic pathology in drug development. Photomicrographs and illustrations provide visual context.
Toxicants in Terrestrial Ecosystems : A Guide for the Analytical and Environmental Chemist
The presence of deliberately added or adventitious organic and inorganic compounds in soils can cause contamination of the crops which are grown on the land or animals feeding on the land, and, consequently can cause adverse toxic effects on man, animals, birds and insect life. Also, drainage of these substances from the soil by rainwater can cause pollution of adjacent streams, then rivers and, eventually, the oceans. The purpose of this book is to draw together the world-wide literature on the occurrence and analytical determination of all types of organic, organometallic and inorganic compounds in soils, animals, crops, plants, grains, dairy products and processed foods. Animal feed and fertilizers are also discussed.
Towards Resilient Organizations and Societies : A Cross-Sectoral and Multi-Disciplinary Perspective
Brings together scholars in the fields of management, public policy, regional studies, and organization theory around the concept of resilience. The aim is to provide a more holistic understanding of the complex phenomenon of resilience from a multi-sectorial, cross-national, and multidisciplinary perspective. The book facilitates a conversation across diverse disciplinary specializations and empirical domains. The authors contribute both to theory testing and theory development and provide key empirical insights useful for societies, organizations, and individuals experiencing disruptive pressures, not least in the context of a post-COVID-19 world.
Towards Mechanized Mathematical Assistants ; 14th Symposium, Calculemus 2007, 6th International Conference, MKM 2007, Hagenberg, Austria, June 27-30, 2007, Proceedings
Contains the collected contributions of two conferences, Calculemus 2007 and MKM 2007. Calculemus 2007 was the 14th in a series of conferences dedicated to the integration of computer algebra systems (CAS) and automated deduction systems (ADS). MKM 2007 was the sixth International Conference on Mathematical Knowledge Management, an emerging interdisciplinary field of research in the intersection of mathematics, computer science, library science, and scientific publishing. Both conferences aimed to provide mechanized mathematical assistants. Although the two conferences have separate communities and separate foci, there is a signi?cant overlap in the interests in building mechanized mathematical assistants. For this reason it was decided to collocate the two events in 2007 for the first time, at RISC in Hagenberg, Austria.
Toward Category-Level Object Recognition
This volume is a post-event proceedings volume and contains selected papers based on presentations given, and vivid discussions held, during two workshops held in Taormina in 2003 and 2004. The 30 thoroughly revised papers presented are organized in the following topical sections: recognition of specific objects, recognition of object categories, recognition of object categories with geometric relations, and joint recognition and segmentation."
Total Solar Eclipses and How to Observe Them
This book explains how to avoid equipment and set-up errors thousands of miles from home, advises on the right equipment to buy for observing and digital SLR imaging, and explains the crucial points to address when traveling abroad with astronomical equipment.
Tort Law and Liability Insurance
Among scholars as well as practitioners it is taken for granted that liability insurance and liability in tort interrelate in many ways. In fact, insurance carriers are major players in the area of claims for damages. In striking contrast to common beliefs among lawyers, the law still maintains that there is no connection between liability issues and insurance matters. The book also addresses the issue from an economic point of view, exploring the issues with the help of the analytical tools of price theory.
Topology-based in Methods in Visualization
Topology-based methods are built on the idea of abstracting characteristic structures such as the topological skeleton from the data and to construct the visualizations accordingly. There are currently new demands for and renewed interest in topology-based visualization solutions. This book presents 13 peer-reviewed papers as written results from the 2005 workshop “Topology-Based Methods in Visualization” that was initiated to enable additional stimulation in this field. It contains a longer chapter dedicated to a survey of the state-of-the-art, as well as a great deal of original work by leading experts that has not been published before, spanning both theory and applications.
Topologie générale : Chapitres 1 à 4 = General topology : Chapters 1 to 4
Nicolas BOURBAKI's Elements of Mathematics aim to provide a rigorous, systematic presentation without prerequisites of mathematics from their foundations. of Analysis and Geometry. It also contains historical notes. This volume is a reprint of the 1971 edition.
Topological Quantum Field Theory and Four Manifolds
Deals with topological quantum field theories and their applications to topological aspects of four manifolds. This book contains a chapter dealing with topological aspects of four manifolds. It also provides an introduction to supersymmetry. It constitutes a useful tool for researchers interested in the basics of topological quantum field theory.
Topological Methods in Group Theory
Topological Methods in Group Theory is about the interplay between algebraic topology and the theory of infinite discrete groups. The author has kept three kinds of readers in mind: graduate students who have had an introductory course in algebraic topology and who need a bridge from common knowledge to the current research literature in geometric, combinatorial and homological group theory; group theorists who would like to know more about the topological side of their subject but who have been too long away from topology; and manifold topologists, both high- and low-dimensional, since the book contains much basic material on proper homotopy and locally finite homology not easily found elsewhere.
Topological Degree Approach to Bifurcation Problems
Topological bifurcation theory is one of the most essential topics in mathematics. This book contains original bifurcation results for the existence of oscillations and chaotic behaviour of differential equations and discrete dynamical systems under variation of involved parameters. Using topological degree theory and a perturbation approach in dynamical systems, a broad variety of nonlinear problems are studied, including: non-smooth mechanical systems with dry frictions; weakly coupled oscillators; systems with relay hysteresis; differential equations on infinite lattices of Frenkel-Kontorova and discretized Klein-Gordon types; blue sky catastrophes for reversible dynamical systems; buckling of beams; and discontinuous wave equations.
Topics on Concentration Phenomena and Problems with Multiple Scales
This volume includes lecture notes devoted to the asymptotic analysis of such problems when the multi-scale behaviour derives from scale separation in the passage from atomistic systems to continuous functionals, from competition between bulk and surface energies, from various types of homogenization processes (random, in perforated domains, on fractals), and to concentration effects in Ginzburg-Landau energies and in subcritical growth problems.
Topics in Elementary Geometry
This small book has for a long time been a unique place to find classical results from geometry, such as Pythagoras' theorem, the nine-point circle, Morley's triangle, Poncelet's polygons, and many other subjects. In addition, this book contains recent, geometric theorems which have been obtained in this classical field over the past years. There are 27 independent chapters on a wide range of topics in elementary plane Euclidean geometry, at a level just beyond what is usually taught in a good high school or college geometry course. The selection of topics is intelligent, varied, and stimulating. In a small space the author provides many thought-provoking ideas.
Topics in Atomic Physics
The study of atomic physics propelled us into the quantum age in the early twentieth century and carried us into the twenty-first century with a wealth of new and, in some cases, unexplained phenomena. Topics in Atomic Physics provides a foundation for students to begin research in modern atomic physics. It can also serve as a reference because it contains material that is not easily located in other sources
Topics in Analysis and its Applications
Most topics dealt with here deal with complex analysis of both one and several complex variables. Several contributions come from elasticity theory. Areas covered include the theory of p-adic analysis, mappings of bounded mean oscillations, quasiconformal mappings of Klein surfaces, complex dynamics of inverse functions of rational or transcendental entire functions, the nonlinear Riemann-Hilbert problem for analytic functions with nonsmooth target manifolds, the Carleman-Bers-Vekua system, the logarithmic derivative of meromorphic functions, G-lines, computing the number of points in an arbitrary finite semi-algebraic subset, linear differential operators, explicit solution of first and second order systems in bounded domains degenerating at the boundary, the Cauchy-Pompeiu representation in L2 space, strongly singular operators of Calderon-Zygmund type, quadrature solutions to initial and boundary-value problems, the Dirichlet problem, operator theory, tomography, elastic displacements and stresses, quantum chaos, and periodic wavelets.

Timing and Temporality in Islamic Philosophy and Phenomenology of Life
From time immemorial, concern with timing of life has been crucial for the regulation of human praxis as well as for the philosophical quest to understand existence by seeking its meaning. The two used to inform each other, until modernity, when they parted. In spite of the extensive progress in manipulating change and motion, and of the abundance of metaphysical attempts to enlighten human beings about their fate, the puzzling nature of temporality and timing of reality remains controversial. The present collection of studies seeks a new answer by initiating a novel investigation informed by the ancient wisdom of the Greaco-Arabic-Islamic sources and inheritance, on the one side, and the contemporary discernment of Occidental phenomenology of life, on the other, in a common dialogical effort to unravel this great enigma of existence.
