This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the International Conference on Information Networking, ICOIN 2007, held in Estoril, Portugal, in January 2007.The 82 revised full papers included in the volume were carefully selected and improved during two rounds of reviewing and revision from a total of 302 submissions. Topics covered include sensor networks; ad-hoc, mobile and wireless networks; optical networks; peer-to-peer networks and systems; routing; transport protocols.

This volume, LNCS 3961, contains the papers selected from those presented at the International Conference on Information Networking 2006 (ICOIN 2006), held in Sendai, Japan. ICOIN 2006 constituted the 20th Anniversary of ICOIN. This year's conference program mainly focused on the field of ubiquitous and overlay networks, and on technology for ad hoc and sensor networks, mobile networks, transport networks, QoS and resource management, network security, peer-to-peer and overlay networks, resource management, and their applications. In response to the call for papers, 468 papers were submitted by authors from 23 different countries from Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Each paper was evaluated by two or three internationally known experts to assure the excellence of the papers presented at ICOIN 2006. To keep within the conference topics, some excellent papers had to be rejected to our regret. After extensive reviews, 141 papers were chosen for presentation in 25 technical sessions. Furthermore, another review of these papers was performed during presentation, and finally 98 papers were selected for printing in LNCS 3961. We expect this will add to the excellence of ICOIN 2006. The papers in LNCS 3961 are categorized into 8 sections: Mobile and Ubiquitous Networking, Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks, Advanced Networking, QoS and Resource Management, Network and Transport Protocols, Network Security, Applications and Services, and Peer-to-Peer and Overlay Networks, ranging from information networking to applications in next generation networks.

Welcome to ICOIN 2005,the International Conference on Information Netwo- ing, held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, Jeju Island, Korea during January 31– February2,2005.ICOIN2005followedthesuccessofpreviousconferences.Since 1986, the conference has provided a technical forum for various issues in inf- mation networking. The theme of each conference re?ects the historic events in the computer communication industry. (Please refer to www.icoin2005.or.kr for details.) The theme of ICOIN 2004, “Convergence in Broadband and Mobile Networking,” was used again for ICOIN 2005 since we believed it was ongoing. This year we received 427 submissions in total, which came from 22 co- tries. Upon submission, authors were asked to select one of the categories listed in the Call for Papers. The most popular category chosen was network se- rity, followed by mobile networks and wireless LANs. Other areas with strong showings included QoS and resource management, ad hoc and sensor networks, and wireless multimedia systems. From the outset, we could see where recent research interest lay and could make sure that the theme was still going in the right direction.
Information infrastructures within European health care : Working with the installed base
This book consolidates experiences from across Europe on the design, development, implementation and evolution of inter-organisational information infrastructures for healthcare. It provides insights with practical relevance for those involved or interested in the planning and implementation of such infrastructures and includes 11 empirical cases on the introduction of core infrastructural arrangements in different national settings: six cases investigate the use of e-prescriptions and five the public platforms for patient-oriented eHealth services. Both are linked to different types of aims.

Informatics for the Clinical Laboratory : A Practical Guide
This series is directed to healthcare professionals who are leading the tra- formation of health care by using information and knowledge. Launched in 1988 as Computers in Health Care, the series offers a broad range of titles: some addressed to specific professions such as nursing, medicine, and health administration; others to special areas of practice such as trauma and radi- ogy. Still other books in the series focus on interdisciplinary issues, such as the computer-based patient record, electronic health records, and networked healthcare systems. Although the school system is subject to specific national regulations, didactical issues warrant discussion on an international level. This applies specifically to informatics didactics. In contrast to most other scientific disciplines, informatics undergoes substantial technical and scientific changes and shifts of paradigms even at the basic level taught in secondary school. Moreover, informatics education is under more stringent observation from parents, potential employers, and policy makers than other disciplines. It is considered to be a modern discipline. Hence, being well-educated in informatics seemingly ensures good job perspectives. Further, policy makers pay attention to informatics education, hoping that a young population well-educated in this modern technology will contribute to the future wealth of the nation.

Informatics Education – Supporting Computational Thinking contains papers presented at the Third International Conference on Informatics in Secondary Schools – Evolution and Perspective, ISSEP 2008, held in July 2008 in Torun, Poland. As with the proceedings of the two previous ISSEP conferences (2005 in Klag- furt, Austria, and 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania), the papers presented in this volume address issues of informatics education transcending national boundaries and, the- fore, transcending differences in the various national legislation and organization of the educational system. Observing these issues, one might notice a trend. The p- ceedings of the First ISSEP were termed From Computer Literacy to Informatics F- damentals [1]. There, broad room was given to general education in ICT.
Influence of Children on Family Purchase Decision
Nowadays, when it comes to the purchase decision there is several factors that affect it. It may be the promotion of the product or service, the way it’s presented, the price and too many other factors. But also, we can take the purchase decision from another point view where there may be people that influence it. These people may be friends, family, partners, children, or other. We conducted this research to investigate whether there is a children’s influence on the family purchase decision in Syria. It was based on deductive methodology that guided us to collect the primary data through distributing a questionnaire which was based on Likert five scale. As well as the sample that was set from infinite population.

Inevitable Aging? : Contributions to Evolutionary-Demographic Theory
Aging is inevitable: this is gerontological dogma. And humans do inevitably grow old, which is probably why it seems so unlikely to us that other forms of life could escape aging. Escaping aging is not escaping death. Death is an inherent part of life, and it can strike any time. But the question is whether death necessarily becomes more likely as life proceeds. And it does not. The theoretical results in this monograph indicate that life provides alternative strategies. While some organisms will deteriorate over adult ages, for others mortality appears to fall or remain constant, at least over an extended period of life after reproductive maturity. This is empirically observed especially for species that keep on growing during adult ages. Perhaps the diversity of aging matches the diversity of life. My thesis, the central insight of this monograph, is: to deeply understand why some species age it is necessary to understand why other species do not.

This book tells the story of Barbara Robb and her pressure group, Aid for the Elderly in Government Institutions (AEGIS). In 1965, Barbara visited 73-year-old Amy Gibbs in a dilapidated and overcrowded National Health Service psychiatric hospital back-ward. She was so appalled by the low standards that she set out to make improvements. Barbara’s book Sans Everything: A case to answer was publicly discredited by a complacent and self-righteous Ministry of Health. However, inspired by her work, staff in other hospitals ‘whistle-blew’ about events they witnessed, which corroborated her allegations. Barbara influenced government policy, to improve psychiatric care and health service complaints procedures, and to establish a hospitals' inspectorate and ombudsman.
