Intelligent Media Technology for Communicative Intelligence ; 2nd International Workshop, IMTCI 2004, Warsaw, Poland, September 13-14, 2004. Revised Selected Papers
The 2nd Workshop on Intelligent Media Technology for Communicative Intelligence commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology in Warsaw aimed to explore the current research topics in the ?eld of int- ligent media technologies for communicative intelligence. Communicative intelligence represents a new challenge towards building a sup- intelligence on the ubiquitous global network by accumulating a huge amount of - man andknowledgeresources.The term "communicativeintelligence"re?ects the view that communication is at the very core of intelligence and its creation. Communication permits novel ideas to emerge from intimate interactions by multiple agents, ranging from collaboration to competition. The recent advance of information and commu- cation technologies has established an information infrastructure that allows humans and artifacts to communicate with each other beyond space and time. It enables us to advance a step further to realize a communicative intelligence with many fruitful applications. Intelligentmediatechnologiesattempttocaptureandaugmentpeople’scommuni- tive activities by embedding computers into the environment to enhance interactions in an unobtrusive manner. The introduction of embodied conversational agents that might mediate conversations among people in a social context is the next step in the p- cess. The scope of intelligent media technologies includes design and development of intelligent supports for content production, distribution, and utilization, since rich c- tent is crucial for communication in many applications. The promising applications of intelligence media technologies include e-learning, knowledge management systems, e-democracy, and other communication-intensivesubject domains.

This is the first project in Syria. about online glasses Shop, which displays sets of glasses on a website. The website allows the shopkeeper (the admin) to add their collections of glasses. Set prices and show reservations. Users can view glasses on the website and try whatever he wants by real-time or by recording video, then they add the preferred ones to the cart to reserve the sample they like the most for a specific time. This project aims to allow busy traders to make their own business online, in addition, it saves time and effort for them and users as they can make shopping and compare goods whatever the situation is especially in quarantine.

Providing computer support for tasks in civil engineering and architecture is hard. Projects can be complex, long and costly. Firms that contribute to design, construction and maintenance are often worth less than the value of their projects. Everyone in the field is justifiably risk adverse. Contextual variables have a strong influence making generalization difficult. The product life cycle may exceed one hundred years and functional requirements may evolve during the service life. It is therefore no wonder that practitioners in this area have been so reluctant to adopt advanced computing systems. After decades of research and industrial pilot projects, advanced computing s- tems are now being recognized by many leading practitioners to be strategically - portant for the future profitability of firms involved in engineering and architecture. Engineers and architects with advanced computing knowledge are hired quickly in the market place. Closer collaboration between research and practice is leading to more comprehensive validation processes for new research ideas. This is feeding devel- ment of more useful systems, thus accelerating progress. These are exciting times. th This volume contains papers that were presented at the 13 Workshop of the Eu- pean Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering. Over five days, 70 participants from around the world listened to 59 paper presentations in a single session format.

Intelligence and security informatics (ISI) can be broadly defined as the study of the development and use of advanced information technologies and systems for national and international security-related applications. The First and Second Symposiums on ISI were held in Tucson, Arizona, in 2003 and 2004, respectively. In 2005, the IEEE International Conference on ISI was held in Atlanta, Georgia. These ISI conferences brought together academic researchers, law enforcement and intelligence experts, information technology consultants and practitioners to discuss their research and practice related to various ISI topics including ISI data management, data and text mining for ISI applications, terrorism informatics, deception detection, terrorist and criminal social network analysis, crime analysis, monitoring and surveillance, policy studies and evaluation, and information assurance, among others. We continued these stream of ISI conferences by organizing the Workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics (WISI 2006) in conjunction with the Pacific Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD 2006).

Welcome to the proceedings of PATMOS 2006, the 16th in a series of international workshops. PATMOS 2006 was organized by LIRMM with CAS technical - sponsorship and CEDA sponsorship. Over the years, the PATMOS workshop has evolved into an important European event, where researchers from both industry and academia discuss and investigate the emerging challenges in future and contemporary applications, design methodologies, and tools required for the development of upcoming generations of integrated circuits and systems. The technical program of PATMOS 2006 contained state-of-the-art technical contributions, three invited talks, a special session on hearing-aid design, and an embedded tutorial. The technical program focused on timing, performance and power consumption, as well as architectural aspects with particular emphasis on modeling, design, characterization, analysis and optimization in the nanometer era. The Technical Program Committee, with the assistance of additional expert reviewers, selected the 64 papers presented at PATMOS. The papers were organized into 11 technical sessions and 3 poster sessions. As is always the case with the PATMOS workshops, full papers were required, and several reviews were received per manuscript.

Contributions to this special issue of Journal of Insect Conservation range from biogeographical analyses andecological features of island insects and their evolution to the variety of concerns for their wellbeing, and practical conservation through a variety of, sometimes novel, approaches. They provide a valuable and up-to-date resource for entomologists and conservation practitioners.
Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers
This book has its origins in courses taught by the author to various und- graduate and graduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology, K- pur, India. The diversity of inorganic chemistry and its impact on polymer chemistry has been profound. This subject matter has grown considerably in the last decade and the need to present it in a coherent manner to young minds is a pedagogic challenge. The aim of this book is to present to the students an introduction to the developments in Inorganic and - ganometallic polymers. This book is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 provides a general overview on the challenges of Inorganic polymer synthesis. This is f- lowed by a survey of organic polymers and also includes some basic f- tures of polymers. Chapters 3-8 deal with prominent families of inorganic and organometallic polymers. Although the target group of this book is the undergraduate and graduate students of chemistry, chemical engineering and materials science it is also hoped that chemists and related scientists in industry would find this book useful.

Modern industry imposes ever increasing requirements upon tools and tool materials as to the provision for performance under the conditions of high cutting speeds and dynamic loads as well as under intensive thermal and chemical interactions with workpiece materials. The industry demands a higher productivity in combination with the accuracy of geometry and dimensions of workpieces and quality of working surfaces of the machined pieces. These requirements are best met by the tool superhard materials (diamond and diamond-like cubic boron nitride). Ceramics based on silicon carbide, aluminum and boron oxides as well as on titanium, silicon and aluminum nitrides offer promise as tool materials. Tungsten-containing cemented carbides are still considered as suitable tool materials. Hi- hardness and high strength composites based on the above materials fit all the requirements imposed by machining jobs when manufacturing elements of machinery, in particular those operating under the extreme conditions of high temperatures and loads.

The goal of the I2CS workshop is to bring researchers from both industry and academic fields together to discuss current progress and future developments in these areas and to eliminate the gap between theory and application. At this point, we want to express immense gratitude to all the authors of the submitted papers and to the members of the international Program Committee for their contribution to the success of the event and a program of high quality. In a peer-to-peer review process, 17 papers were selected out of 27 submissions.

They focus mainly on system-oriented problems, text processing, and theoretical foundations of distributed and Internet systems. They also deal with speed and quality-of-service problems of Internet protocols, aspects of cooperation and collaboration in Internet systems, as well as agent and text-processing-based methods. In addition, 9 papers stem from two mini-workshops, one on computational epidemiology and the other on optimization of urban traffic systems.
