Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Person-Centered Healthcare

This book establishes a dialog among the medical and intelligent system domains for igniting transition toward a sustainable and cost-effective healthcare. The Person-Centered Care (PCC) positions a person in the center of a healthcare system, instead of defining a patient as a set of diagnoses and treatment episodes. The book discusses intelligent systems and their applications for healthcare data analysis, decision making and process design tasks. The measurement systems and efficiency evaluation models analyze ability of intelligent healthcare system to monitor person health and improving quality of life.

Fringe 2005 ; The 5th International Workshop on Automatic Processing of Finge Patterns

In 1993 new prin- ples of optical shape measurement, setup calibration, phase unwr- ping and nondestructive testing were the focus of discussion, while in 1997 new approaches in multi-sensor metrology, active measu- ment strategies and hybrid processing technologies played a central role.

Distributed Cooperative Laboratories : Networking, Instrumentation, and Measurements

This is a highly interdisciplinary topic, where various aspects converge: multimedia communications and networking, sensor networks, Grid technology, Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning and control, network management, measurement instrumentation and methodology, architecture of measurement systems. The material is organized into six parts: Technologies for Real-Time Interactive Multimedia Communications; Monitoring, Management and Configuration of Networks and Networking Devices; Data Acquisition and Aggregation in Sensor Networks; Grid Structures for Distributed Cooperative Laboratories; Architectures and Techniques for Tele-Measurements; Virtual Immersive Communications and Distance Learning. Each contribution presents a self-contained treatment, within a framework that provides the reader with an up-to-date picture of the most recent state-of-the-art developments.

Digital Signal Processing for Measurement Systems : Theory and Applications

Digital Signal Processing for Measurement Systems: Theory and Applications covers the theoretical as well as the practical issues which form the basis of the modern DSP-based instruments and measurement methods. It covers the basics of DSP theory before discussing the critical aspects of DSP unique to measurement science. Includes important topics, for example, problems that arise when sampling periodic signals and the relationship between the sampling rate and the SNR

Management by Measurement : Designing Key Indicators and Performance Measurement Systems

The selection of good performance indicators is not an easy process. This monograph focuses on the designing of a Performance Measurement System (PMS), knowing that "magic rules" to identify them do not exist. Some indicators seem right and easy to measure, but have subtle, counter-productive consequences. Other indicators are more difficult to measure, but focus the enterprise on those decisions and actions that are critical to success. This book suggests how to identify indicators that achieve a balance in these effects and enhance long-term profitability.
