OMDoc : An Open Markup Format for Mathematical Documents [version 1.2]
Computers arechanging the way wethink. Of course, nearly all desk-workers have access to computers and use them to email their colleagues, search the Web for information and prepare documents. But I’m not referring to that. I mean that people have begun to think about what they do in compu- tional terms and to exploit the power of computers to do things that would previously have been unimaginable. This observation is especially true of mathematicians.
Mathematical Software - ICMS 2006 ; 2nd International Congress on Mathematical Software, Castro Urdiales, Spain, September 1-3, 2006, Proceedings
This volume contains the outstanding collection of invited papers and refereed papers selected for the Second International Congress on Mathematical Software, ICMS 2006, held in Castro Urdiales, Spain, September 1-3, 2006. This congress was devoted to all aspects of mathematical software, whose appearance is — in our opinion — one of the most important events in mathematics. Mathematical software systems are used to construct examples, to prove theorems, and to find new mathematical phenomena. Conversely, mathematical research often motivates developments of new algorithms and new systems. Beyond mathematics, mathematical software systems are becoming indispensable tools in many branches of science and technology.
Essentials of Mathematica : With Applications to Mathematics and Physics
Essentials of Mathematica: With Applications to Mathematics and Physics, based on the lecture notes of a course taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, teaches how to use Mathematica to solve a wide variety problems in mathematics and physics The aim of Essentials of Mathematica is to provide the reader with Mathematica proficiency quickly and efficiently.
Environmental Modeling : Using MATLAB®
“Environmental Modeling using MATLAB R ” by Ekkehard Holzbecher is an excellent publication and a novel approach covering the intersection of two important, growing worlds – the world of environmental modeling and of mathematical software. Environmental modeling is a science that uses mathematics and comp- ers to simulate physical and chemical phenomena in the environment (e.g., environmental pollution).
Computational Electronic Circuits : Simulation and Analysis with MATLAB®
This textbook teaches in one, coherent presentation the three distinct topics of analysis of electronic circuits, mathematical numerical algorithms and coding in a software such as MATLAB®. By combining the capabilities of circuit simulators and mathematical software, the author teaches key concepts of circuit analysis and algorithms, using a modern approach. The DC, Transient, AC, Noise and behavioral analyses are implemented in MATLAB to study the complete characteristics of a variety of electronic circuits, such as amplifiers, rectifiers, hysteresis circuits, harmonic traps and passes, polyphaser filters, directional couplers, electro-static discharge and piezoelectric crystals. This book teaches basic and advanced circuit analysis, by incorporating algorithms and simulations that teach readers how to develop their own simulators and fully characterize and design electronic circuits.
Benefit/Cost-Driven Software Development : With Benefit Points and Size Points
This book presents a set of basic techniques for estimating the benefit of IT development projects and portfolios. It also offers methods for monitoring how much of that estimated benefit is being achieved during projects. Readers can then use these benefit estimates together with cost estimates to create a benefit/cost index to help them decide which functionalities to send into construction and in what order. This allows them to focus on constructing the functionality that offers the best value for money at an early stage.
Aritmetica : Un approccio computazionale = Arithmetic : A computational approach
Intended to be a contribution to the algorithmic re-reading of some classic topics of elementary number theory and an invitation to more demanding reading, according to the indications provided by the bibliography annexed to it.
Applied Statistics Using SPSS, STATISTICA, MATLAB and R
The book provides a comprehensive coverage of the main statistical analysis topics important for practical applications such as data description, statistical inference, classification and regression, factor analysis, survival data and directional statistics.
Algebraic Methodology and Software Technology ; 11th International Conference, AMAST 2006, Kuressaare, Estonia, July 5-8, 2006, Proceedings
This is the proceedings of the 11th edition of the Algebraic Methodology and Software Technology (AMAST) conference series. The rst conference was held in the USA in 1989, and since then AMAST conferences have been held on (or near) fve diferent continents and have been hosted by many of the most prominent people and organizations in the ?eld. The AMAST initiative has always sought to have practical efects by dev- oping the science of software and basing it on a ?rm mathematical foundation. AMAST hasinterpretedsoftwaretechnologybroadly, andhas, for example, held AMAST workshops in areas as diverse as real-time systems and (natural) l- guage processing. Similarly, algebraic methodology is interpreted broadly and includes abstract algebra, category theory, logic, and a range of other ma- ematical subdisciplines.
