Informatics education - supporting computational thinking ; 3rd International Conference on informatics in secondary schools : Evolution and perspectives, ISSEP 2008 Torun Poland, July 1-4, 2008 Proceedings
Informatics Education – Supporting Computational Thinking contains papers presented at the Third International Conference on Informatics in Secondary Schools – Evolution and Perspective, ISSEP 2008, held in July 2008 in Torun, Poland. As with the proceedings of the two previous ISSEP conferences (2005 in Klag- furt, Austria, and 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania), the papers presented in this volume address issues of informatics education transcending national boundaries and, the- fore, transcending differences in the various national legislation and organization of the educational system. Observing these issues, one might notice a trend. The p- ceedings of the First ISSEP were termed From Computer Literacy to Informatics F- damentals [1]. There, broad room was given to general education in ICT.
Elements of spatial structures : Analysis and design
Highlights all aspects of the analysis and design of elements related to spatial structures, which have been carefully selected from existing structures. Analysing the design of elements of any full scale structure that contains facilities that have already been constructed makes good economic sense and avoids duplication in respect of research and development, the decision-making process and accurate design criteria for new constructed facilities.
Design of industrial structures : Reinforced cement concrete and steel
Bridges the gap between academic and professional field pertaining to design of industrial reinforced cement concrete and steel structures. It covers pertinent topics on contracts, specifications, soil survey and design criteria to clarify objectives of the design work. Further, it gives out guiding procedures on how to proceed with the construction in phases at site, negotiating changes in equipment and design development. Safety, quality and economic requirements of design are explained with reference to global codes. Latest methods of analysis, design and use of advanced construction materials have been illustrated along with a brief on analysis software and drafting tool.
