The Art of City Sketching : A Field Manual ; 2nd ed.
Guides readers through the process of freehand architectural sketching and explains orthographic, diagrammatic, three-dimensional, and perceptual-type drawings. The book presents hundreds of drawings of historic buildings and urban spaces, examples, and exercises, which help readers develop their drawing skills and employ sketching as an analytical tool. The book is divided into three parts, based on the reader’s skill level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. As an architect and field sketching instructor, the author shows that through drawing the reader can discover, analyze, and comprehend the built environment.

Systematic Reviews in Educational Research : Methodology, Perspectives and Application
In this edited volume, international researchers of the field describe and discuss the systematic review method in its application to research in education. Alongside fundamental methodical considerations, reflections and practice examples are included and provide an introduction and overview on systematic reviews in education research.
Symmetries and Overdetermined Systems of Partial Differential Equations
Symmetries in various forms pervade mathematics and physics. Globally, there are the symmetries of a homogenous space induced by the action of a Lie group. Locally, there are the infinitesimal symmetries induced by differential operators, including not only those of first order but of higher order too. This three-week summer program considered the symmetries preserving various natural geometric structures. Often these structures are themselves derived from partial differential equations whilst their symmetries turn out to be contrained by overdetermined systems. This leads to further topics including separation of variables, conserved quantities, superintegrability, parabolic geometry, represantation theory, the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand complex, finite element schemes, exterior differential systems and moving frames.
Survey of Text Mining II : Clustering, Classification, and Retrieval
Continues to survey the evolving field of text mining - the application of techniques of machine learning, in conjunction with natural language processing, information extraction and algebraic/mathematical approaches, to computational information retrieval. Numerous diverse issues are addressed, ranging from the development of new learning approaches to novel document clustering algorithms, collectively spanning several major topic areas in text mining.
SUPERSUIT : Poetic Interventions in Urban Spaces
The increasing accumulation of people in historyless living machines, the challenges posed by migration and a lack of space update the need for new thinking and action in public spaces. SUPERSUIT is an interdisciplinary experiment on the border between human and space. It is a tool for poetic interventions in different urban situations, invites participation and questions the relationship between people, space and city in a sensual way. As a marker of public space, the spontaneously emerging forms of the SUPERSUIT respond directly to the parameters of the urban context. SUPERSUIT enables the change of current design processes and the conception of new human-material constellations via performative interventions
Supercomputing Frontiers : 7th Asian Conference, SCFA 2022, Singapore, March 1–3, 2022, Proceedings
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th Asian Conference Supercomputing Conference, SCFA 2022, which took place in Singapore in March 2022. This book were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions. They cover a range of topics including file systems, memory hierarchy, HPC cloud platform, container image configuration workflow, large-scale applications, and scheduling.
Structural and functional organization of the synapse
Synapses play a central role in the brain by mediating signal transmission between neurons. This book provides a fundamental description of the synapse by leading experts in the field. Each individual synapse carries out its numerous functions in a tiny space, thereby requiring an exquisite molecular and functional arrangement. This book describes the molecular structure and cellular function of central synapses in the brain, providing a detailed view of the brain’s fundamental unit of information storage.
Strategies and Tactics in Supply Chain Event Management
This book gives unique insights into the Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM) of world-leading companies. Aims, methods, instruments as well as resources and budgets in Supply Chain Event Management are discussed. The reader will gain a strong understanding of the way to deal with problems along the supply chain and how to avoid them. Supply Chain Event Management is a transparent view of the company and all value chain partners and allows to meet timelines with decreased cost and risks.
Strategic Marketing : Concepts and Cases
Explores concepts and issues surrounding strategic marketing. Chapters explain what strategic marketing is, and then discuss strategic segmentation, competitive positioning, and strategies for growth, corporate branding, internal brand management, and corporate reputation management.
Statistical Physics for Cosmic Structures
The physics of scale-invariant and complex systems is a novel interdisciplinary field. Its ideas allow us to look at natural phenomena in a radically new and original way, eventually leading to unifying concepts independent of the detailed structure of the systems. The objective is the study of complex, scale-invariant, and more general stochastic structures that appear both in space and time in a vast variety of natural phenomena, which exhibit new types of collective behaviors, and the fostering of their understanding. This book has been conceived as a methodological monograph in which the main methods of modern statistical physics for cosmological structures and density fields (galaxies, Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, etc.) are presented in detail. The main purpose is to present clearly, to a workable level, these methods, with a certain mathematical accuracy, providing also some paradigmatic examples of applications.
Statistical Monitoring of Clinical Trials : A Unified Approach
Shows that the joint distribution of the test statistics at different analysis times is asymptotically multivariate normal with the correlation structure of Brownian motion (``the B-value") irrespective of the test statistic. The so-called B-value approach to monitoring allows us to use, for different types of trials, the same boundaries and the same simple formula for computing conditional power.
Statistical Methods in Quantum Optics 2 : Non-Classical Fields
Statistical Methods in Quantum Optics 2 - Non-Classical Fields continues the development of the methods used in quantum optics to treat open quantum systems and their fluctuations. Its early chapters build upon the phase-space methods introduced in the first volume Statistical Methods in Quantum Optics 1 - Matter Equations and Fokker-Planck Equations: the difficulties these methods face in treating non-classical light are exposed, where the regime of large fluctuations – failure of the system size expansion – is shown to be particularly problematic. Cavity QED is adopted as a natural vehicle for extending quantum noise theory into this regime. In response to the issues raised, the theory of quantum trajectories is presented as a universal approach to the treatment of fluctuations in open quantum systems.
