This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the IFIP WG 8.2, 9.1, 9.4 Joint Working Conference on the Future of Digital Work: The Challenge of Inequality, IFIPJWC 2020, which was supposed to be held in Hyderabad, India, in December 2020, but was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This conference was organized for IFIP’s 60th anniversary and to commemorate its mission to “achieve worldwide professional and socially responsible development and application of ICTs.” The 22 full papers presented together with an introduction and two keynotes were carefully reviewed and selected from 29 submissions. They are organized in topics on: innovation and entrepreneurship; the social significance of digital platforms; transforming healthcare; and the dark side of digitalization.

Capsule endoscopy (CE) is indicated as a first-line clinical examination for the detection of small-bowel pathology, and there is an ever-growing drive for it to become a method for the screening of the entire gastrointestinal tract (GI). However systemic side effects of medications in the field of pharmacology is a huge obstacle for administration mainly in age related diseases therefore although CE's main function is diagnosis, our research for therapeutic capabilities has intensified to make therapeutic capsule endoscopy (TCE) a target within reach.

The Functional Calculus for Sectorial Operators

The present monograph deals with the functional calculus for unbounded operators in general and for sectorial operators in particular. Sectorial operators abound in the theory of evolution equations, especially those of parabolic type. They satisfy a certain resolvent condition that leads to a holomorphic functional calculus based on Cauchy-type integrals. Via an abstract extension procedure, this elementary functional calculus is then extended to a large class of (even meromorphic) functions. With this functional calculus at hand, the book elegantly covers holomorphic semigroups, fractional powers, and logarithms. Special attention is given to perturbation results and the connection with the theory of interpolation spaces. A chapter is devoted to the exciting interplay between numerical range conditions, similarity problems and functional calculus on Hilbert spaces. Two chapters describe applications, for example to elliptic operators, to numerical approximations of parabolic equations, and to the maximal regularity problem. This book is the first systematic account of a subject matter which lies in the intersection of operator theory, evolution equations, and harmonic analysis.

The Flow Equation Approach to Many-Particle Systems

Addresses the flow equation approach to many-particle systems. The flow equation approach consists of a sequence of infinitesimal unitary transformations and is conceptually similar to renormalization and scaling methods. Flow equations provide a framework for analyzing Hamiltonian systems where these conventional many-body techniques fail. The text first discusses the general ideas and concepts of the flow equation method. In a second part these concepts are illustrated with various applications in condensed matter theory including strong-coupling problems and non-equilibrium systems. The monograph is accessible to readers familiar with graduate- level solid-state theory.

The Fernow Watershed Acidification Study

Includes research on biogeochemical responses of streams, soils and vegetation to air pollution, and also includes research on acidification’s effects on salamanders. This book describes the responses to chronic N and S amendments by deciduous hardwood forests, one of the few studies to focus on these important hardwood forest ecosystems. Intensive monitoring of soil solution and stream chemistry, along with measurements of soil chemistry, and vegetation growth and chemistry, provide insights into the acidification process in forested watersheds, evaluating these in the context of nitrogen saturation, soil acidification and base cation leaching models. This volume will be of interest to researchers, ecosystem modellers, managers and policy-makers concerned with the effects of air pollution on forested ecosystems.

The Fermi-Pasta-Ulam Problem : A Status Report

This volume reviews the current understanding of this paradox without trying to force coherence on differing perspectives on the same problem by various groups or approaches. The contributions comprise studies of one-dimensional chains, descriptions of numerical methods, heuristic theories, addressing the "long standing and controversial problem of distinguishing chaos from noise in signal analysis," metastability, the relation of the FPU motions with the integrable equations, approaches using methods of perturbation theory and the proof of the applicability of KAM theory in FPU chains with energy very close to a minimum. The Evolution of Monetary Policy and Banking in the US

A concise analysis of the evolution of monetary policy and banking institutions over the past sixty years that stresses the dynamic interactions between the Federal Reserve and banking institutions that resulted from financial market innovations. Institutions were influenced by increasing competition in markets and monetary policies. The book consists of two parts, which are organized chronologically. The first has chapters that correspond with terms of chairmen of the Federal Reserve Board. It critically analyzes decisions taken by the Federal Open Market Committee in each period and argues that innovations forced changes in the design and conduct of monetary policy. The second part analyzes how banking institutions evolved from a very conservative and regulated system in 1945 to highly inventive financial firms and how this evolution has affected the distribution of credit, wealth, and income in the US.

The European Information Society : Taking Geoinformation Science One Step Further

The Association of Geographic Information Laboratories for Europe (AGILE) was established in early 1998 to promote academic teaching and research on GIS at the European level. AGILE seeks to ensure that the views of the geographic information teaching and research community are fully represented in the discussions that take place on future European - search agendas and it also provides a permanent scientific forum where geographic information researchers can meet and exchange ideas and - periences at the European level. In 2007 AGILE provided - for the first time since its existence - a book constituting a collection of scientific papers that were submitted as fu- papers to the annual AGILE conference and went through a competitive and thorough review process. Published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography this first edition was well received within AGILE and within the European Geoinformation Science com- nity as a whole. Thus, the decision was easily made to establish a Springer th Volume for the 11 AGILE conference held 2008 in Girona, Spain, and led to what you now hold in your hands.
