Post-Quantum Cryptography ; 2nd International Workshop, PQCrypto 2008 Cincinnati, OH, USA, October 17-19, 2008 Proceedings
The 15 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. Quantum computers are predicted to break existing public key cryptosystems within the next decade. Post-quantum cryptography is a new fast developing area, where public key schemes are studied that could resist these emerging attacks. The papers present four families of public key cryptosystems that have the potential to resist quantum computers: the code-based public key cryptosystems, the hash-based public key cryptosystems, the lattice-based public key cryptosystems and the multivariate public key cryptosystems.
Portraits of Influential Chinese Educators

Examines children’s participation in dialectical reciprocity with place-based institutional practices by presenting empirical research from Australia, Brazil, China, Poland, Norway and Wales. Underpinned by cultural-historical theory, the analysis reveals how outdoors and nature form unique conditions for children's play, formal and informal learning and cultural formation. The analysis also surfaces how inequalities exist in societies and communities, which often limit and constrain families' and children's access to and participation in outdoor spaces and nature. The findings highlight how institutional practices are shaped by pedagogical content, teachers' training, institutional regulations and societal perceptions of nature, children and suitable, sustainable education for young children. Due to crises, such as climate change and the recent pandemic, specific focus on the outdoors and nature in cultural formation is timely for the cultural-historical theoretical tradition. In doing so, the book provides empirical and theoretical support for policy makers, researchers, educators and families to enhance, increase and sustain outdoor and nature education.

The development of new therapeutic strategies and the minimization of direct and indirect costs are fundamental objectives in the management of chronic diseases, especially when they are characterized by a high degree of disability. This volume describes the evolution of intervention strategies in the home management of chronic respiratory failure in Italy from the late 1980s to today: numerous topics are explored, including epidemiology, complications, oxygen delivery systems and interfaces, the patient-caregiver relationship and the various aspects relating to the economic impact of the disease. In particular, the most recent trends in telemedicine are analyzed, considered the strategy of the future in the field of respiratory medicine and especially in the management of patients in home oxygen therapy. The various chapters also report the most recent data on the role of nursing and on the quality of life of chronic respiratory patients at home, also taking into consideration the expectations of individual patients, their families and their doctors. Finally, both the socio-economic impact of the telematic management of these patients and the aspects related to the quality pathways in long-term telemetry home oxygen therapy were taken into consideration.

Like legumes, actinorhizal plants form root nodules that host nitrogen-fixing soil bacteria. However, because the macrosymbionts are, with one exception, woody plants rather than crop plants, actinorhizal symbioses are less well-known than legume symbioses to which they are phylogenetically related. Actinorhizal plants come from eight different families. This volume includes chapters that deal with all these aspects of the symbiosis and both symbionts plus their ecological role and use. Other chapters tackle the global distribution of different actinorhizal plants and their microsymbionts and how this impacts the question of co-evolution of the micro- and macrosymbionts as well as comparing the actinorhizal and leguminous symbioses.

The present monograph carefully revises the taxonomy, nomenclature, and ecology of all nominal species and shows that spathidiid diversity has been greatly underestimated. Based on the reinvestigation of described species with modern methods (silver impregnation, scanning electron microscopy) and the first description of over 50 new species, the family Spathidiidae is split into four families and 20 genera. Each species is described and figured in detail, making it unnecessary to go back to the original literature often difficult to obtain. Two identification keys are provided, viz., one for taxonomists and another, simple key for users not specifically trained in ciliate taxonomy.
