Researchers are also constantly learning more about cardiovascular diseases as well as regulatory mechanisms for various intrinsic and extrinsic stimuli in viable tissues. In this volume, our intention has been to present the latest relevant information in molecular biology and genetics as well as the clinical implications of a better understanding of pathophysiology, novel diagnostic methodologies, and therapeutic applications for new methods of prevention in thrombosis/hemostasis and related disorders, including atherosclerosis.

Recent Advances in Palaeodemography : Data, Techniques, Patterns
The written data used by demographers essentially cover the last five centuries. Since Homo Ergaster moved out of Africa around 1.8 million years ago and until the sub-contemporary periods, there is no data allowing us to reconstruct a demographic history that can be interpreted with the traditional tools of demography. If we want to be able to tackle demographic issues over a long evolutionary duration, trying to reconstitute our human demographic history and thinking out and testing macro-demographic theories, we need to draw on sources other than written data and on techniques other than those commonly used by demographers. This necessarily means using information of every kind, from archaeology, physical anthropology, paleontology, primatology or genetics, along with relevant models of interpretation.

This volume contains the Proceedings of the Twelfth French-German-Spanish Conference on Optimization held at the University of Avignon in 2004. We refer to this conference by using the acronym FGS-2004. Recent Advances in Operator Theory, Operator Algebras, and their Applications ; XIXth International Conference on Operator Theory, Timisoara (Romania), 2002
The Romanian conferences in operator theory, as they are now commonly called, have started in the year1976 as an annual workshop on operator theory held at the University of Timi¸ soara, originally only with Romanian attendance. The meeting soon evolved into an international conference, with an increasingly larger parti- pation. It has been organized jointly, initially by the Department of Mathematics of INCREST and by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Timi¸ soara, then (since 1990) by the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy and the Faculty of Mathematics of the West University of Timi¸ soara.
