The Legacies of Richard Popkin
Richard H. Popkin (1923-2005) transformed the study of the history of philosophy in the second half of the twentieth century. His History of Scepticism and his many other publications demonstrated the centrality of the problem of skepticism in the development of modern thought, the intimate connections between philosophy and religion, and the importance of contacts between Jewish and Christian thinkers. In this volume, scholars from around the world assess Popkin’s contributions to the many fields in which he was interested.
The Lebanese financial crisis and it’s impact on Syrian Bank
Lebanon is now facing a deep financial crisis, and commercial banks face the worse liquidity stress in the country’s history. Researches done till now do not correlate other factors to each other and to the crisis. Those factors are mainly: banking activities and decisions, compliance, political issues, economic factors, as well as crisis and “black swans”. The Language of Mathematics : Telling Mathematical Tales
Begins by examining different languages and how they express mathematical ideas. The picture of mathematics that emerges is of a subject that is much more contingent, relative, and subject to human experience than is usually accepted. Barton’s thesis takes the idea of mathematics as a human creation, and, using the evidence from language, comes to more radical conclusions than usual. The first part of The Language of Mathematics: Telling Mathematical Tales explores these differences and thus illustrates the possibility of different mathematical worlds. Part II discusses what this means for mathematics and argues for alternative answers to conventional questions about mathematics: The final section explores implications for mathematics education, discussing the consequences for the ways in which we learn and teach mathematics.
The Landscapists
Who defines the landscapes around us? What practices are employed as contemporary landscapes are produced? This issue argues that landscapes are made and remade through interrelations between people and the worlds around them – from geographers investigating the lives of urban wastelands to landscape architects projecting future cities, and from migrants navigating border systems to artists working with local residents. In contrast to tendencies to emphasise the physical forms of landscapes, with their potential to be redesigned and represented in drawings, this issue brings to the forefront the social constructedness of landscapes by focusing on a range of critical practices and daily actions. As conventional frames of landscape are challenged, other ways of measuring, mapping, imagining, designing, building and occupying them are revealed.

Because of the possibilities of spying and using malware, we must regulate the application market to maintain the privacy of information and maintain smartphones, the application market has begun to be regulated in several countries and from these countries together. A web application assists managers to distribute the work to the team, which includes a group of employees and observe upon the phase at which the license application is approved. In this report, we will go over the phases of our project, software for web and mobile and expert systems that were used, problems we ran into, and plans for the future in detail.
The Integration of Phonetic Knowledge in Speech Technology
Continued progress in Speech Technology in the face of ever-increasing demands on the performance levels of applications is a challenge to the whole speech and language science community. The Indigenous Identity of the South Saami : Historical and Political Perspectives on a Minority within a Minority
This book is a novel contribution in two ways: It is a multi-disciplinary examination of the indigenous South Saami people in Fennoscandia, a social and cultural group that often is overlooked as it is a minority within the Saami minority. Based on both historical material such as archaeological evidence. The Inclusion of Other Women : Breaking the Silence through Dialogic Learning
Recognizes a reality, our reality, that of the “other women”. Why are we the “other women”? Because we are women who, given the fact that we have not had the chance to obtain an academic education, were silenced and have remained outside of the spaces for public debate about women. This exclusion is worse if we are immigrants or belong to an ethnic minority. Those of us who are housewives, domestic workers or factory workers, because we do not have academic degrees, do not have spaces in which our voices can be heard, where we can say what we want. At times women whose voices are heard, because they have been able to go to university or have been leaders in the feminist movement, speak for all of the other women who have not been able to get a formal education, without asking us what it is we really want or think.
The Impact of Voluntary Disclosure on Financial Performance : An Applied Study on Banks and Insurance Companies Listed in DSE
The aims of the study were to clarify the impact of voluntary disclosures on the return on assets, clarify the impact of voluntary disclosures on the return on equity and to clarify the impact of voluntary disclosures on financial performance. To achieve the goals, the study used the financial statements of (14) banks and (7) insurance companies listed in Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE), for the period from (2016 till 2020) to measure their level of voluntary disclosure using the 9 main axes. Then calculating the sample’s return on assets and return on equity as a way to measure financial performance.
