International Company Taxation in the Era of Information and Communication Technologies : Issues and Options for Reform

As a result of the progress in information and communication technologies (ICT) economic activities have become less dependent on time and place. This is leading to manifold changes in economic structures. Consequently, the question is whether and to what extent the existing rules of international company taxation are still applicable in an appropriate way.Anne Schäfer analyses the current issues of international company taxation with regard to the economic changes induced by the use of ICT and provides reform approaches for international company taxation which cover the whole system of international taxation.

Interior Point Methods for Linear Optimization

Linear Optimization (LO) is one of the most widely applied and taught techniques in mathematics, with applications in many areas of science, commerce and industry. The dramatically increased interest in the subject is due mainly to advances in computer technology and the development of Interior Point Methods (IPMs) for LO. This book provides a unified presentation of the field. The authors present a self-contained comprehensive interior point approach to both the theory of LO and algorithms for LO (design, convergence, complexity, asymptotic behaviour and computational issues). A common thread throughout the book is the role of strictly complementary solutions, which play a crucial role in the interior point approach and distinguishes the new approach from the classical Simplex-based approach

Intelligent Techniques for Web Personalization ; IJCAI 2003 Workshop, ITWP 2003, Acapulco, Mexico, August 11, 2003, Revised Selected Papers

Web personalizationcan be de?ned as any set of actions that can tailor the Web experience to a particular user or set of users. The experience can be something as casualas browsinga Web site oras (economically)signi?cantas tradingstock or purchasing a car. The actions can range from simply making the presentation more pleasing to anticipating the needs of a user and providing customized and relevant information. To achieve e?ective personalization, organizations must rely on all available data, including the usage and click-stream data (re?e- ing user behavior), the site content, the site structure, domain knowledge, user demographics and pro?les. In addition, e?cient and intelligent techniques are needed to mine these data for actionable knowledge, and to e?ectively use the discovered ...

Intelligent glasses store

Technology has been found to facilitate humankind's life. Hence, there is a new technique almost every day. One of the most common is E-commerce. This is the first project in Syria. about online glasses Shop, which displays sets of glasses on a website. The website allows the shopkeeper (the admin) to add their collections of glasses. Set prices and show reservations. Users can view glasses on the website and try whatever he wants by real-time or by recording video, then they add the preferred ones to the cart to reserve the sample they like the most for a specific time. This project aims to allow busy traders to make their own business online, in addition, it saves time and effort for them and users as they can make shopping and compare goods whatever the situation is especially in quarantine.

Information Sharing on the Semantic Web

The more information is available, the harder it is to locate any particular piece of it. And even when it has been successfully found, it is even harder still to usefully combine it with other information we may already possess. It is commonly understood that this problem of information sharing can only be solved by giving computers better access to the semantics of the information. While it has been recognized that ontologies play a crucial role in solving the open problems, most approaches rely on the existence of well-established data structures. To overcome these shortcomings, Stuckenschmidt and van Harmelen describe ontology-based approaches for resolving semantic heterogeneity in weakly structured environments, in particular the World Wide Web. Addressing problems like missing conceptual models, unclear system boundaries, and heterogeneous representations, they design a framework for ontology-based information sharing in weakly structured environments like the Semantic Web. For researchers and students in areas related to the Semantic Web, the authors provide not only a comprehensive overview of the State of the art, but also present in detail recent research in areas like ontology design for information integration, metadata generation and management, and representation and management of distributed ontologies. For professionals in areas such as e-commerce and knowledge management, the book provides decision support on the use of novel technologies, information about potential problems, and guidelines for the successful application of existing technologies.

Impacts and Risk Assessment of Technology for Internet Security : Enabled Information Small-Medium Enterprises (TEISMES)

This emerging economy is bringing with it new forms of TEI intermediation, online businesses, virtual supply chains, rapidly changing internet-electronic commerce technologies, increasing knowledge intensity, and unprecedented sensitivity of the time-to-market by customers. Impacts and Risk Assessment of Technology for Internet Security Enabled Information Small-Medium Enterprises (TEISMES) also identifies ways of minimizing risk liability of TEISME business operations as a result of their dependence on TEI (Internet-eC). The rapid evolution and spread of information technology (IT) during the last few years is challenging SMEs, governments and internet security professionals to rethink the very nature of risk exposure. Impacts and Risk Assessment of Technology for Internet Security Enabled Information Small-Medium Enterprises (TEISMES) is designed for a professional audience of researchers and practitioners in industry. This book is also suitable for graduate-level students in computer science.
