Structures and Dynamics of Autopoietic Organizations : Theory and Simulation
Knowledge, learning, and memory are major concepts in management science and organization theory. First and foremost, they are attributed to individuals rather than organizations. Steffen Blaschke reconsiders the three major concepts in the light of social systems theory. He complements autopoietic organization theory with a clear-cut distinction between individual and organizational knowledge, learning, and memory. Following suit of agent-based modelling, he provides an operationalization of autopoietic organization theory in terms of computational simulation. The author subjects organizational structures and dynamics to a range of simulation scenarios, thereby questioning the effects of work groups and communities of practice as well as personnel turnover and layoff on knowledge, learning, and memory.

For the third edition, the author fundamentally revised and newly organized the contents of the work. Nevertheless, the intention has been to preserve the style of the previous editions, namely to focus on the fundamentals enabling the reader to analyse further problems.

The plexuses of Auerbach and Meissner are peculiar to the gut; they extend from the beginning of the unstriated portion of the oesophagus to the end of the rectum. They have usually been considered to belong to the sympathetic system, but it appears to me preferable to place them in a class by themselves. We may speak of them as forming the enteric nervous system. (Langley 1900) In this context,itislessimportant that Langleyexcludedthe striated part of the oesophagus from his de?nition of the enteric nervous system (ENS). Much more remarkable seems to be that for Langley, a physiologist, structural reasons were the most decisive for taking the nervous system within the wall of the gastrointestinal tract as an entity unto itself.
Structural Change and Exchange Rate Dynamics : The Economics of EU Eastern Enlargement
Structural change, economic growth and adequate exchange rate adjustment are key challenges in the context of EU eastern enlargement as are consistent macroeconomic policies. The authors focus on sectoral adjustment across industries in catching-up countries and explain changes in the composition of output – this includes new aspects of the Chenery model. They describe and analyze the spatial pattern of specialization and adjustment in many countries. Theoretical and empirical analysis of foreign direct investment, innovation and structural change shed new light on economic dynamics in Old Europe and New Europe. As regards exchange rate dynamics both traditional aspects (such as the Balassa-Samuelson effect) and new approaches to understanding exchange rate developments are presented. Stress-testing bank during the COVID-19 pandemic : Comparative study in BEMO bank Saudi Fransi in Syria
The study aims to discuss the importance of liquidity and how to manage it for banks and to identify the risks to which the bank's liquidity may be exposed, in addition to conducting one of the tests that can reveal the risks that can be faced. To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the study examined the hypotheses through the data of BEMO BANK SAUDI FRANSI, and this test was conducted during the years 2019 and 2020. The stress test was used as one of the effective tests in order to determine whether the bank is able to meet deposit withdrawal obligations during five consecutive days. The test was applied to 2019 and 2020 to compare between them. After applying the stress test on 2019 and 2020, the following conclusion was reached: BEMO BANK SAUDI FRANSI failed during 2019 and 2020 in the stress test because it does not have sufficient liquidity to meet its deposit withdrawal obligations. Although the bank succeeded in testing on the first day of both years, it failed in the rest of the news days in 2019 and 2020
Stress and immunity
Many people have experienced the connection between stress and getting sick. Colds, influenza, herpes and allergies seem worse when we are severely stressed at work or in the home. Others are never sick until they go on vacation (that is, after the stress is over), and then they spend the whole time fighting the virus. Because of intrinsic connections like these, many researchers are today exploring whether (and how) stress and illness are actually linked. One specific focus of this research is to study the effects of stress on the immune systems; after all, if stress affects immunity, that would be one way in which stress could contribute to illness. The function of the immune system is to protect us from organisms that cause disease, and from other materials that would be harmful to the body. Cells of the immune system (i.e., white blood cells) circulate throughout the body in the blood and are also located in various organs, including the bone marrow, thymus, lymph nodes and spleen. There are a number of different kinds of white blood cells, but the most important in this context are lymphocytes.
Streptozotocin : Uses, mechanism of action and side effects
treptozotocin (STZ), an antibiotic and anticancer agent, is the most prominent diabetogenic chemical agent in diabetes research due to its cytotoxicity in pancreatic beta-cells. The selective toxicity of STZ due to beta cells occurs because of its preferential accumulation in beta cells through uptake via GLUT2 glucose transporter. Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus can be induced by either single high dose or multiple low- dose STZ injections. At low dose, STZ induces pancreatic beta-cell apoptosis and at high dose it causes necrosis. Though STZ itself can cause carcinogenesis and renal, hepatic and muscle myoblast toxicity, these side effects can be minimized or completely avoided by using lower doses.
Strength Analysis in Geomechanics
The book presents a new approach for the solution of geomechanical problems - it explicitly takes into account deformation and fracture in time, which are neglected in classical methods although these properties create important effects. The method reveals the influence of the form of a structure on its ultimate state. It uses the rheological law which accounts for large strains at a non-linear unsteady creep, an influence of a stress state type, an initial anisotropy and damage. The whole approach takes into account five types of non-linearity (physical as well as geometrical ones) and contains several new ideas. For example, it considers the fracture as a process, the difference between the body and an element of the material which only deforms and fails because it is in the structure, the simplicity of some non-linear computations against the consequent linear ones, the dependence of the maximum strain in dangerous poins of the body only on the material.

Banking is an important part of any financial system, and it is especially important in the financial systems of the countries of Continental Europe, such as Italy, France, and Germany, which have been bank-based for d- ades and which are, in my view, likely to remain bank-based for the fo- seeable future. There are many reasons, based on empirical and theoretical considerations, to believe that strong banks are not only important for the banking industry itself, but also for the respective national economies.
