System Level Design of Reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip

Focuses on system level design issues for reconfigurable SoCs, and provides information on reconfiguration aspects of complex SoCs and how they can be implemented in practice. It is divided in three parts. The first part provides background information and requirements on reconfigurable technologies and systems. The second one identifies existing methodological gaps, and introduces a design flow for developing reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip. The high level part of the design flow can be covered by two C++ based methodologies: one based on SystemC and one based on OCAPI-XL, both including appropriate extensions to handle reconfiguration issues. Finally, the third part of the book presents reconfigurable SoCs from the perspective of the designer, through three indicative case studies from the wireless and multimedia communication domain.

System Analysis : Theory and Applications

Switching and learning in feedback systems : European Summer School on Multi-Agent Control, Maynooth, Ireland, September 8-10, 2003, Revised Lectures and Selected Papers

A central theme in the study of dynamic systems is the modelling and control of uncertain systems. While ‘uncertainty’ has long been a strong motivating factor behind many techniques developed in the modelling, control, statistics and mathematics communities, the past decade, in particular, has witnessed remarkable progress in this area with the emergence of a number of powerful new methods for both modelling and controlling uncertain dynamic systems. The specific objective of this book is to describe and review some of these exciting new approaches within a single volume. Our approach was to invite some of the leading researchers in this area to contribute to this book by submitting both tutorial papers on their speci?c area of research, and to submit more focussed research papers to document some of the latest results in the area. We feel that collecting some of the main results together in this manner is particularly important as many of the important ideas that emerged in the past decade were derived in a variety of academic disciplines.

Origin of this book In 1998 the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) initiated the 2000 Watt Society, a University-wide research program meant to help Switzerland realize a dramatic reduction in its future energy use. Suites de Sturm, indice de Maslov et périodicité de Bott = Sturm sequences, Maslov index and Bott periodicity

The classical theory of Sturm sequences provides an algorithm to determine the number of roots of a polynomial with real coefficients contained in a given interval. The main object of this thesis is to show that an adequate generalization of the theory of Sturm sequences provides among other things: a notion of Maslov index for an algebraic loop of Lagrangians defined on a commutative ring ; a proof of the fundamental theorem of Hermitian (algebraic) K-theory, theorem due to M. Karoubi ; a proof of Bott's periodicity theorems (topological), in the spirit of the work of F. Latour ; a symplectic-linear computation of the relative group K2 for all commutative rings, in the spirit of the work of R. Sharpe. The book is as far as possible "self-contained" and elementary: it essentially implements linear or bilinear algebra arguments. It presents a unified approach to the Maslov index in terms of Sturm sequences and quadratic forms.
