The Role of Technology in CSCL : Studies in Technology Enhanced Collaborative Learning
Relates "new" information and communication technologies (ICT) to their specific teaching and learning functions, in particular how ICT is appropriated for and/or by educational or learning communities. We categorize consumer-oriented educational multimedia as established technologies, not of primary importance for innovative approaches to collaborative learning.
The Role of Management Accounting Systems in Strategic Sensemaking
Marcus Heidmann explores the role of management accounting systems (MAS) in strategic sensemaking. Based on cognitive theories, the author defines strategic sensemaking as a learning process with observation, interpretation, and communication as the relevant process steps on the individual level. He illustrates the impact of MAS on these cognitive processes by an exploratory multiple-case study design. He shows that managers do not primarily use MAS to identify strategic topics but to search for additional information that helps them to make sense of these issues. In particular, the interactive use of MAS contributes to strategic sensemaking by providing directions and facilitating interactions that help to resolve equivocality of strategic issues.
The role of financial indicators in influencing the market price of shares
Research focused on five private Syrian banks, which were represented by five different banks in their performance so that the sample is not biased, namely (Bemo Bank, Baraka Bank, The Arab Bank, the International Bank for Trade and Finance and the Cham Bank) and during five years (2016 to 2020) and using one of the indicators, which were (debt index, profitability index, stock index and liquidity index). Our study showed that there is a weak Positive relationship between the return on equity index. Ownership and the market price of the share, and that there is a weak inverse relationship between the indicators of the liquidity ratio and the debt ratio with the market price of the share, in addition to the presence of a strong Positive relationship between the book value multiplier and the market price of the share.
The Rio Chagres, Panama : A multidisciplinary profile of a tropical watershed
This book calls the attention of the scientific community, government organizations and non-government agencies, and the general public, to arguably one of the most important and complex of the world’s tropical rainforest regions – the greater Panama Canal Watershed. The Río Chagres basin is the primary source for water to operate the Panama Canal, and also supplies water for electricity generation and potable water for municipal use, but this important national resource is largely unstudied from a scientific standpoint. The broad objective of the book is to characterize and understand the physical and ecological components of an isolated and largely pristine tropical rainforest and describe how the different natural components of a tropical rainforest interact with one another.
