Artificial neural networks in Vehicular Pollution Modelling
Artificial neural networks (ANNs), which are parallel computational models, comprising of interconnected adaptive processing units (neurons) have the capability to predict accurately the dispersive behavior of vehicular pollutants under complex environmental conditions. This book aims at describing step-by-step procedure for formulation and development of ANN based VP models considering meteorological and traffic parameters. The model predictions are compared with existing line source deterministic/statistical based models to establish the efficacy of the ANN technique in explaining frequent dispersion complexities in urban areas. The book is very useful for hardcore professionals and researchers working in problems associated with urban air pollution management and control.
Applied Remote Sensing for Urban Planning, Governance and Sustainability
Despite the promising and exciting possibilities presented by new and fast-developing remote sensing technologies applied to urban areas, there is still a gap perceived between the generally academic and research-focused spectrum of results offered by the “urban remote sensing” community and the application of these data and products by the local governmental bodies of urban cities and regions. This book presents a new method of asymptotic analysis for "boundary layer" problems. This is called MASC "Method of Complementary Successive Approximations". The first half of the book is devoted, in addition to the presentation of the MASC, to organize the knowledge necessary for the asymptotic analysis and to give the keys allowing the understanding of what is a problem called "boundary layer" and the methods allowing. to build an approximation. The second part is devoted to the application of MASC in fluid mechanics and to the comparison with the more traditional methods resulting from the famous MDAR, "Method of Connected Asymptotic Developments".
Alpine Industrial Landscapes : Towards a New Approach for Brownfield Redevelopment in Mountain Regions

Air quality integrated assessment : A European perspective
This book reports on the results of an extended survey conducted across Europe within the framework of the APPRAISAL FP7 project to determine the extent to which an integrated assessment approach to air quality is being adopted, on the one hand, by regional and local authorities to develop air quality plans and, on the other, by researchers.
