The role of six sigma culture in supporting the organizational culture in Syrian banks

Aims to try to try to highlight on the impact of the new administrative methodologies (six sigma) on the culture of a sample of banks in Syria (the International Islamic Bank and Al-Sharq Bank) and the extent of the banks' willingness to apply the Six Sigma approach. The results of the comparison between the two banks showed that there were statistically significant differences between the two banks in favor of Syria International Islamic Bank, as it has more six sigma components in all cultures than the components of Al Sharq Bank.

The role of six sigma

Banking Systems face a lot of changes and challenges, which necessitate applying new management and performance improvement concepts, as an attempt to achieve excellence, Six Sigma is considered to be one of the best methodologies that help in this regard because it may be utilized in improving banks performance and decrease defects in their processes. This study aimed to highlight the role of six sigma approach to improve the performance of Syrian banks according to the application of six sigma model elements (DMAIC) and selecting six sigma team (Improvement Team). Conclusions of the study show the importance of implementing Six Sigma methodology in all local sections including industrial and service organizations, and there is a tendency in the Syrian banks to utilize six sigma approach.

Introduction to Engineering Statistics and Six Sigma : Statistical Quality Control and Design of Experiments and Systems

Introduction to Engineering Statistics and Six Sigma contains precise descriptions of all of the many related methods and details case studies showing how they have been applied in engineering and business to achieve millions of dollars of savings. Specifically, the methods introduced include many kinds of design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) charting approaches, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), formal optimization, genetic algorithms, gauge reproducibility and repeatability (R&R), linear regression, neural nets, simulation, quality function deployment (QFD) and Taguchi methods. A major goal of the book is to help the reader to determine exactly which methods to apply in which situation and to predict how and when the methods might not be effective.

Manufacturing Execution Systems - MES

The production plants of today develop into modern service centers. Economic efficiency of modern added value is not a property of products alone but of the process. Decisive potential in business now is a question of process capability, rather than production capability. Process capability in business requires real-time systems for optimization. Business-IT needs to be developed from telecommunications and ERP to real time services, which are not offered by the prevailing ERP systems. Today, only modern Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) offer real-time applications. They generate current as well as historic mappings of production facilities and thus they can be used as basis for optimizations. It is important to map the supply chain in real time. Increasing complexity in production requires an integrated view of the production and service facilities: detailed scheduling, status collection, quality, performance analysis, tracing of material and so on have to be recorded and displayed in an integrated way.
