Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Wired/Wireless Internet C- munications (WWIC). This year we received 117 submissions, which allowed us to organize an - citing program with excellent research results, but required more e?ort from the 54 members of the international Program Committee and the 51 additional reviewers.
Security for Telecommunications Networks
Telecommunications networks are a critical component of the economic and social infrastructures in which we live. Each day, well over three billion people across the globe rely upon these systems, as their primary means of connecting to the world around them. It creates a starting place for new researchers in the field of secure telecommunications networks. This volume not only discusses emerging threats, along with system vulnerability, but also presents the open questions posited by network evolution and defense mechanisms. This is one of the first books to discuss securing current and next generation telecommunications networks by the security community.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Quality of Service in Multiservice IP Networks, QoS-IP 2005, held in Catania, Italy in February 2005. The 50 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from around 100 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on analytical models, traffic characterization, MPLS failure and restoration, network planning and dimensioning, DiffServ and InfServ, routing, software routers, network architectures for QoS provisioning, multiservice in wireless networks, TCP in special environments, and scheduling.
Performance Evaluation and Planning Methods for the Next Generation Internet
GERAD :The Center was created in 1980 by a small group of professors and researchers of HEC Montreal, GERAD's activities achieved sufficient scope to justify its conversion in June 1988 into a Joint Research Centre of HEC Montreal, the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and McGill University. In 1996, the U- versite du Quebec a Montreal joined these three institutions. GERAD has fifty members (professors), more than twenty research associates and post doctoral students and more than two hundreds master and Ph.D. students. GERAD is a multi-university center and a vital forum for the devel- ment of operations research. Its mission is defined around the following four complementarily objectives: • The original and expert contribution to all research fields in GERAD's area of expertise; • The dissemination of research results in the best scientific outlets as well as in the society in general; • The training of graduate students and post doctoral researchers; • The contribution to the economic community by solving important problems and providing transferable tools.The wide range of topics covered in this book is a witness to the diversity of problems that have to be faced if we want to design the Next Generation IP Networks to meet their expected performance. This is a rich field where optimization techniques can provide significant gains
IP Traffic Theory and Performance
This book presents different approaches in IP traffic theory and classifies them, especially towards applications in the Internet. It comprises the state of the art in this area, which is currently presented only by numerous research papers and overview articles. The book provides an ideal starting point for detailed studies of traffic analysis in IP networks. It gives the reader the possibility to judge on different models and to select the appropriate for his individual needs in applications.
