Tumor Prevention and Genetics III

Identification of cancer risk factors and potential prevention strategies have been some of the most important medical and research contributions to the improvement of public health in the past half-century (Steele 2003). Understanding the role of lifestyle, exposure to endogenous factors and exogenous environmental factors, and individual genetic and epigenetic variability have contributed significantly to this effort. Cancer prevention strategies have been developed based on results of epidemiologic, preclinical, and clinical studies that have generated clues for identifying risk factors that may be modulated by changes in lifestyle, such as smoking cessation or dietary modification (Greenwald 2002a). In addition, significant progress in medical interventions involving chemoprevention—a pharmacological approach to intervention that aims to prevent, arrest, or reverse either the initiation phase of carcinogenesis or the progression of premalignant cells—is beginning to pay dividends in reducing risks associated with cancer.

The development in cancer therapy and early detection tools

Despite the development in cancer treatment there is still a high rate of mortality worldwide. Although the traditional ways of cancer treatments are still used as a first line therapy, however, new treatments have been developed which showed a high effect on cancer cells. Therefore, the aim of our study is to search for the most recent cancer therapies, such as anti-angiogenesis treatment and immune therapy and related early detection tools. We will focus on the most “resilient” aggressive types of cancers which people have a lack of information about, in order to let them be aware about their risk factors and how to avoid them, and to provide them with their symptoms as well.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center : Development, Integration, and Implementation

Provides a valuable resource for hospitals, institutions, and health authorities worldwide in their plans to set up and develop comprehensive cancer care centers. The development and implementation of a comprehensive cancer program allows for a systematic approach to evidence-based strategies of prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and palliation. Comprehensive cancer programs also provide a nexus for the running of clinical trials and implementation of novel cancer therapies with the overall aim of optimizing comprehensive and holistic care of cancer patients and providing them with the best opportunity to improve quality of life and overall survival.

Skin injuries & conservative treatments

Skin is a barrier which protects the whole human body, however it is exposed to many damaging factors. The aim of our study is to describe the structure of the skin and we will focus on the most common causes of skin damage factors from natural sources such as sun exposure, which could harm the skin and there is a correlation in between it and increasing skin cancer. We will also discuss about wounds and burns since they both became a life threatening factors during the war in Syria therefore we will introduce the best and the most recent treatments and technologies including a case report about healing by stem cells, in order to reduce. Malformation of skin like a scar, and more important we will highlight the importance of new devices in early detection of skin cancer and conservative surgery of breast cancer patients. We were also concerned about the lack of knowledge. So we will mention cosmetic creams and procedures. For anti aging since wrinkles is a major factor of depression.

Signal Extraction : Efficient Estimation, 'Unit Root'-Tests and Early Detection of Turning Points

The material contained in this book originated in interrogations about modern practice in time series analysis. • Why do we use models optimized with respect to one-step ahead foreca- ing performances for applications involving multi-step ahead forecasts? • Why do we infer 'long-term' properties (unit-roots) of an unknown process from statistics essentially based on short-term one-step ahead forecasting performances of particular time series models? • Are we able to detect turning-points of trend components earlier than with traditional signal extraction procedures?

Root resorption : Pathophysiology & Management

Root resorption is a clinical condition whereby the mineralized tissues of the root are lost, mainly as an immunological response due to various factors. Root resorption has been a perplexing clinical condition for dental practitioners as it has a broad range of clinical manifestation with varied severity and also due to the associated diagnostic dilemma. Early detection is essential for successful management and outcome of root resorption. Root resorptions have several local and systemic predisposing factors. Hence, patients with a history of one or more predisposing factors should be monitored closely for initial signs of root resorption.

Pathogenesis and Clinical Practice in Gastroenterology

Provided a stimulating framework to bridge discussions from bench to bedside. The proceedings of the symposium are contained in this book, and the unifying theme is the growing understanding of inflammation as a driving force in chronic disease leading to disability and malignancy. Aspects of early detection - endoscopically or via molecular markers - are covered as well as in-depth discussions of the validation of new findings in clinical practice.

New pharmacological hypothesis for cancer therapy and treatment

Despite the considerable development of new cancer drugs the mortality remains high and the improvement in survival rate remains poor compared to the number of new concepts of cancer therapy in which we will review in our study and we will focus on two possible reasons for that delay in success such as the limitation of diagnostic tools to perform early detection for the tumor in a stage where it can be well treated or even cured as it is often a silent disease in the start phase of it...

New diagnostic method th detect peritoneal metastases in colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer is the third common reason of death in population worldwide therefore we will focus in our study about description of this type of cancer and its symptoms to raise the public awareness to go to the right specialist as soon as the symptoms appear to improve early detection of this disease and the overall survival and we will highlight the best diet and life style to avoid this type of cancer hopefully beside that we will present all the most successful therapies of this disease from different classes of compounds such as chemotherapy or anti angiogenic and Metformin and other bacterial therapy however the major goal of the experimental part of this research is performed to establish a new promising diagnostic tool by Near Infra-red camera after injection of indyocine green to detection the peritoneal metastasis of colorectal in 15 patients since this kind of metastasis

Modern cryotherapy as cancer treatment

Despite the new development of cancer therapy we noticed that we still have a high mortality rate and it is of importance to introduce all types of new cancer therapies to our patients in Syria. Cryotherapy is a new old option and first used in skin cancer which we will discuss in our study and we will also a new diagnostic tool for the most aggressive cancer melanoma which may help doctors to identify at which stage we can start with cryotherapy by early detection of that cancer. Breast and prostate cancers are the most common and lethal for women and men respectively however we will also add breast cancer in men, and the application of cryotherapy in such tumors, and our interest about bone tumor was based on the fact of the expanses of bone marrow transplantation in our country so we need many types of cancer therapies to prevent patients from reaching this option.

Development of statin is a breakthrough therapy in Alzheimer’s prevention

Dementia is one of the diseases which had several stages and Alzheimer’s term was selected in respect for the first doctor Alzheimer who defined the first symptoms of this diseases in a woman whom was well treated by him. The fact that this is a type of a silent disease on which you have a long-term process of neurological degradation and suddenly gives symptoms which are most often irreversible, on clinical level likely we can consider it as a malignancy, one in terms of that it is sudden shocking irreversible and on the level of behavior and some mortality beside the lack of early detection tools for diagnosis...

Algal Toxins : Nature, Occurrence, Effect and Detection

This volume contains the lectures and seminars given at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on “Sensor Systems for Biological Threads: The Algal Toxins Case”, held in Pisa, Italy in October, 2007. Algae can form heavy growths in ponds, lakes, reservoirs and sl- moving rivers throughout the world; algae can house toxins which are - ually released into water when the cells rupture or die. Hundreds of toxins have been identified so far. Detection methods, including rapid screening, have been developed to help us learning more about them, especially to find out which toxins are a real threat for people and what conditions encourage their production and accumulation. Early detection of algal toxins is an - portant aspect for public safety and natural environment, and significant efforts are underway to develop effective and reliable tools that can be used for this purpose.
