Inorganic Scintillators for Detector Systems : Physical Principles and Crystal Engineering
The development of new scintillators as components of modern detector systems is increasingly defined by the end user's needs. This book provides an introduction to this emerging topic at the interface of physics and materials sciences, with emphasis on bulk inorganic scintillators. After surveying the end user's needs in a vast range of applications, ranging from astrophysics to industrial R & D, the authors move on to review scintillating mechanisms and the properties of the most important materials used. Co-enzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin like substance that has been found in both microorganisms and plants as well as in animals and humans. In this research we will talk about CoenzymeQ10, it’s biochemical functions and roles in health and diseases such as Parkinson, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, male fertility, cancers , covid19 and immune functions. Some coQ10 determination methods in foods will be discussed. At the last can we use it as asupplement? Does it have an adverse effects and contraindications? and what are the factors that affect on it’s plasma concentrations ? .
CO-ENZYME Q10
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble compound that is synthesized by the body and can be obtained from the diet. Co-Q10 plays a central role in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). It also functions as an antioxidant in cell membranes and lipoproteins. Endogenous synthesis and dietary intake provide sufficient C0- Q10 to prevent deficiency in healthy people, although coenzyme Q10 concentrations in tissues decline with age. Oral supplementation of coenzyme Q10 increases coenzyme Q10 concentrations in plasma and lipoproteins. Oral high-dose co- Q10 is usually effective to treat mitochondrial disorders that are caused by mutations in coenzyme Q10 biosynthetic genes.
Les cancers ovariens = Ovarian cancers
Deals with ovarian cancers and their therapeutic management. Besides the epithelial tumors which are the most frequent, the rarer tumors, with attenuated malignancy, germ cells or of the ovarian stroma are also studied. Specialists from multiple backgrounds each deliver in their field the most recent knowledge on the fundamental aspects of the disease, its genetic, epidemiological and prognostic characteristics and its pathological peculiarities. Modern means of diagnosis are presented. The surgical technique, including laparoscopy, is detailed at the different stages of the disease. The therapeutic strategy aims to position the surgery and chemotherapy according to the stage. The current place of radiotherapy and isotopic therapies is indicated. Some more specific aspects are discussed, screening, lymph node dissection, the “second look”, intraperitoneal chemotherapy with or without hyperthermia, treatment of the elderly, monitoring after treatment… as well as the emergence of targeted therapies.
Beyond bending : Reimagining compression shells
The examination of old construction principles in combination with the development of new digital graphic construction methods leads to unusual ways in the design of self-supporting structures. Based on its Armadillo Vault, which was awarded at the Venice Biennale 2016, the Block Research Group of ETH Zurich describes development processes and visions of resource-saving, refined load-bearing structures without steel. The intensive examination of principles is fundamental.
